Now in our small town teachers and waitresses are discussing the profound nature of Sarah Grand's masterpeice.Originaly I was intrigued by the oldness of the book, but was swiftly engrossed in the details of Beth's life, upbringing and the changes she makes from sheer determination. The inconsistancies in her nature make her real. The loss of her Father is eloquent and vivid.Adolecense is as troublesome for beth as is anyone. The author gives a great story of someone whom we can understand and not understand at times. She is all human. Both great qualities and some not so great accompany Miss Beth's diverse if not contradictory character. The woman she becomes is to be admired. The Beth Book is seemingly a biographical novel of a genius female raised in the days that her peceptions and intellegence is squashed and suspect. Rather than be beaten down, comes through life triumphantly. The Beth book is not only a story of life, but one of abuse, feminism and true love.I highly recommend The Beth Book. I anticipate learning more of Sarah Grand and reading more of her works.

They play spy all the time and, this time, they get to do it for a purpose - to learn. I've never been more impressed with what essentially could be called a travel book. I think it's more than that. It's history geared towards kids and they're going to love it. First off, the book is beautiful. The pages are filled with amazing pictures of all sorts of sites in Amsterdam and the layout is gorgeous.More importantly, this makes learning fun. Going to museums and monuments can be a drag on kids - pretty boring - UNLESS they have a mission to complete. At each site, they have points they need to earn and things they need to find or answer. I had two favorite sites in the book. The palace looks incredible in the pictures. And the write up on Anne Franks house is perfect. For that one, it is somber enough to let the kids know its a more serious stop on their adventure.Amsterdam is an amazing place with an incredible history. This is house I'd want my kids to see it!

Along the Way - Book Three - Welcome to British Columbia!, by Teresa Schapansky

About the Author As a child, author Teresa Schapansky spent days on end reading fantasy and fairy tale stories. Back then, she never dreamt she'd actually write one. Her inspiration came much later in the form of her daughters, whom she names as co-conspirators in the writing of her first two novels. Her first novel, "Imogene of the Pacific Kingdom" opened a few doors for the author. Radio and television interviews, school visits, library visits, a stint freelance reporting for a local newspaper, until the author's second book, "Dager of the Tasman Empire" found its way to the surface. The author has since joined forces with Bob Winterford, Eye Wonder Studios Publishing Inc. and together, they have created the 12 book "Along the Way" series for younger children.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Welcome to Changes! By Grady Harp Canadian author Teresa Schapansky enters the world of children’s books with a very thoughtful and entertaining series entitled ALONG THE WAY. Thus far there are five books with hopefully more to come. The illustrations are by Ken Golden. Teresa is a sharp journalist and a popular speaker in schools and other gatherings and her early love for stories lead to books before she finally decided to write this series. As an introduction both to the entire series and this book Teresa states,’ In our books you’ll find short stories, and you’ll meet ordinary, everyday children who face ordinary, everyday problems; read along as our new friends learn how to best solve such problems. We’ll go on make believe road trips and come across some pretty amazing facts that deal with different cultures, exciting history, geography, horticulture, science, and more. Most importantly, ALONG THE WAY books are dedicated to encouraging children to broaden their horizons – be all they can be – al the while, sharpening reading skills which are in fact, necessary, as they embark on this fantastic path to lifelong learning.’And then we meet our host Albertosaurus (aka Albert) a dinosaur. In Book 1 – WELCOME TO BRITISH COLUMBIA! – and before starting our trip through British Columbia we are further educated about dinosaurology – very interesting facts for all ages, but especially for youngster who love to imagine things prehistoric. Then our road trip begins with a fine history of the multiple cultures, different beliefs and customs that abound in North America – and British Columbia is part of Canada which IS part of North America! Albert shows us the sources of immigration and the many exciting different celebrations (and inserts some very fine ideas about respect for other cultures). We learn about Dream Catchers, the splendid Chinese food, Magpies (mean good luck), piñatas, tacos and more. And now in this book Albert introduces us to Ryan and Nathan – new friends who are friends of Michael and Kilee the ones who moved away the other youngsters we have met in the other books, are faced with the dilemma of missing their friends. But good counseling from their parents about the positive aspects of changes makes them realize they can write to their friends, that their friends will have new adventures, and that Ryan and Nathan can find new friends. They notice that Michael and Kilee’s house is for sale and about that time they receive letters from their friends telling them about the adjustments and inviting them to visit. Lesson: adapting to changes can be very positive. And so the trip through British Columbia begins – in Victoria, Vancouver Island with its city of gardens – the Butchart Gardens - rainforest, the City of Totems with its 80 totem poles built by Native Americans, the B.C. Forest Discovery Center, and Nanaimo that began as a mining settlement.Teresa has a fine way with words, explaining many facts children can understand and learn about different places and concepts. It looks like this is the first of a long ongoing series we can anticipate! Grady Harp, June 15

Half Irish was described by Ulster Tatler, Northern Ireland’s leading monthly magazine, as ‘A wonderful debut novel that not only fits perfectly into the Young Adult genre but will also appeal to those readers who will forever be young at heart. Delving into themes of hope, love, loss and self-discovery, I completed the novel with a feeling I had been on a journey with Tyler and I loved every minute of it.’ Author Peter J. S. Waugh has also featured at the Belfast Book Festival and irishtv.ie. He regularly speaks at events across Ireland.

Liverpool, on the shore of Onondaga Lake, was settled by John Danforth and his family due to the natural brine springs near the lakeshore. The population of salt boilers quickly grew. The Oswego Canal opened in 1828, and the village was incorporated in 1830. German immigrants brought willow weaving to the village in the mid-1850s, and by the 1890s, Liverpool willow products were being shipped all over the nation. In the 20th century, as more lucrative work became available and the automobile ruled, the basket weavers gave way to factory workers, nurses, teachers, and engineers. Around Liverpool takes you on a tour of the unique history of Liverpool, with images of its salt boilers, weavers, firefighters, schoolchildren, churchgoers, ice boatersthe people and places that made the community.

Rachel is finding it increasingly difficult to ignore her sister’s derision, society’s silent wagging finger and her father’s advancing years. She’s travelled the world, but now finds herself at a crossroads at an age where most people would stop globetrotting and settle. She’s never been one to conform to the nine-to-five lifestyle, so why should she start now? Was it wrong to love the freedom and independence a single life provided, to put off the search for Mr Right and the children? Perhaps she could find the time for one last adventure… So with sunshine in mind, Rachel takes a TEFL course and heads to Greece after securing a job teaching English in a remote village. She wasn’t looking for love, but she found it in the lifestyle and history of the country, its culture and the enduring volatility of its people. Girl Gone Greek is a contemporary women’s fiction novel. When Rachel moved to Greece to escape a life of social conformity, she found a country of unconventional characters and economic turmoil. The last thing she expected was to fall in love with the chaos that reigned about her.

Terrific debut novel from the intrepid Rebecca Hall By Nene Davies If you like to read books with relateable characters and beautifully described locations, that will take you to a faraway land where people and places are so very different from home, where your protagonist is thrown head-first into a brand-new life - then you will love Girl Gone Greek. Rebecca Hall's debut novel is full of colourful characters, from the disapproving older sister, to the warm and loving father, to the offhand, difficult boss and the nutty, passionate best friend. We are transported to what feels like the real Greece, away from tourists and partying, to everyday life in a remote little village. A fish out of water, newly qualified English teacher Rachel relies on her wits, energy and positive attitude to create the life of her dreams, charming people along the way and falling in love with her chaotic, accepting, demanding, beautiful new home. I really enjoyed this easy to read tale - and I'm sure you will too!

One of his familiar ones readsWhen I look carefullyI see the nazuna bloomingBy the hedge! The poet sees a little flower as it grows and is delighted with his encounter (indicated by the untranslatable Japanese character rendered as an exclamation point).Girl Gone Greek is Rebecca Hall’s Bash'esque haiku. It is about recognition of and delight in the “ordinary” that Important, Busy people often pass by. You will not find leaps off towering cliffs wearing a wingsuit, or high-speed car chases, or steamy sensuality here, but that is OK. Most of life is not like that. What you will find is real people in real encounters, and the magic that emerges in the meeting of different minds. So stars for Rachel for opening her eyes (and ours) to the nazunas all around us. Stars for her refusal to allow her sister (or society) to cramp her into something she is not. Stars for her love for and creative teaching of her Greek students. Stars to the author for this her first novel. But no stars for whoever did the final formatting, and inserted paragraph breaks in the middle of sentences (a problem that I am told is being corrected).

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Quick, Light Yet Delightfully Fun Read By Jessica Overall, Girl Gone Greek is an enjoyable story. The main character, Rachel, is relatable, as I am also an expat. It reminds me of when I first moved abroad and allows me to relive my own experiences through hers. The author’s writing style helps the narrative flow, resulting in a quick, light yet delightfully fun read. I feel like I am right there with Rachel, seeing what she sees and feeling what she feels. Her experiences tie in an emotional element, helping you as a reader identify with the (other) characters in the book. I appreciate the fact that the book digs deeper into the Greek lifestyle and history, so I am able to learn along the way. The book creatively weaves together fascinating yet meaningful facts, personal triumphs and challenges, as well as beautiful imagery. Combined with a touch of wit, Girl Gone Greek is a wonderful ride.

Wistful Thoughts, by Shadow Hamilton

About the Author She was born in Scotland, moving to London at two, then off to the Canneries at three, where she learned to speak Spanish, returning to London at age five. She went to school by Hampstead Heath. In 1958, the excitement started as she sailed out to East Africa via the Suez Canal. She arrived in Dar-es-Salaam harbor on her eighth birthday then moved inland to Dodoma, where she remained until 1960. Living right on the edge of the bush in Dodoma, her rubbish bins were nightly raided by big cats and hyenas. Moving back to Dar-es-Salaam, she now had the beauty of Oyster Bay, where she swam and searched the coral rock pools at low tide. She learned to sail and could often be seen racing friends in her dabchick, once having to be rescued by the lifeboat after turning turtle during a bad squall. She was very sad to have to return to England in 1968, but her parents feared the balloon would go up after Independence and got out before hand. Having been bitten by the travelling bug, she travelled to many exotic places, and it is these experiences that she draws on when writing her poems.

Excerpt. © Reprinted by permission. All rights reserved. "Your ex-wife is on the phone again."Kyle Houseman squeezed his eyes shut and massaged his forehead. There were few people in the world he considered as difficult as Noelle.Actually, he couldn't think of one."Did you hear me?" Morgan Thorpe, his assistant, stood at the entrance to his office wearing an impatient frown. Noelle (who still used his last name, which bothered him, since they'd been together for only a year) hadn't been able to reach him on his cell. She'd tried three times in the past fifteen minutes and he'd let it go to voice mail. So she'd called his business line, which he'd specifically asked her not to do. He didn't like the way she aired her complaints about him—and everything else—to anyone who'd listen. His employees didn't like it, either."I heard," he replied."Are you going to take her call? Because if I have to talk to her again, I'm going to tell her exactly what I think of her."He gave Morgan a look to make sure she understood that would be a mistake. At forty-five, she wasn't old enough to be his mother, but she often took a maternal approach with him, probably because she'd been working for him since he started First Step Solar. He'd hired her the same week she came out of the closet and moved in with her partner, who was as soft-spoken as Morgan was bold. "No, you're not.""Why?" she cried. "Noelle's a terrible person! She deserves whatever she gets!""We were once married. We still live in the same small town. We can figure out some way to get along."She rolled her eyes. "If it's that easy, why are you avoiding her?"She had a point. Dodging Noelle's calls wouldn't do him any good, anyway. She'd just track him down at his house or even a restaurant, if she had to. She did that kind of thing all the time—to plead for an advance on his spousal maintenance, a "small loan" to prevent her utilities from being turned off or money to get her car repaired. Once, she'd even asked him for five hundred bucks to go toward fixing her boob job (apparently, her body kept rejecting the implants, but instead of having them removed, she kept trying to make them work). It didn't seem to matter that none of that was his responsibility anymore."Put her through," he said with a sigh."That woman is insufferable. I don't know how you tolerate her," Morgan grumbled as she left.He didn't, either. He glanced at the light blinking on his desk phone. Surely Noelle would find someone else and get remarried. He wished that would happen soon. It would save him $2,500 a month, not to mention the relief of not having to deal with her anymore. But he'd been wishing that for the past five years, ever since the divorce. He was beginning to suspect that as long as she had him to pay a hefty chunk of her monthly bills, she'd be unlikely to tie the knot with someone else. She wasn't the type to part with a freebie. Besides, she saw his financial support as punishment for the fact that he'd never been able to love her—and, truth be told, he saw it in the same light. That was why he'd agreed to that amount and why he helped her out as often as he did. Guilt demanded it."Someday," he muttered as he picked up."Someday what?" Noelle asked.Someday he'd be rid of her. But he couldn't say that. "Nothing. What's going on? Why have you been blowing up my phone?""Why are you ignoring my calls?" she countered."Because I can't think of any reason you'd need to talk to me. We are divorced, remember? And with all the money I've given you over the past few years—in the past several months alone—I'm a good six months ahead in my payments. That pretty much leaves you with no excuse.""It's my water heater," she said."Your what?""My water heater."She'd found something new to complain about? "What's wrong with it?""It went out on me. I can't take a shower or do laundry or dishes. I don't have any hot water."He rocked back in his chair. "Then…shouldn't you be looking up a plumber instead of bothering your ex-husband?""Why are you being rude? I'm calling because you happen to own a solar manufacturing plant. Can't you give me a deal on a solar system? So I can get my hot water bill down?""I manufacture photovoltaic panels, Noelle. They run air conditioners and other electrical appliances. Anything that requires gas is a whole separate thing." They'd been married, for God's sake, and she still didn't understand what he did for a living?"You have connections for hot water systems, too. You put one in for Brandon and Olivia's neighbor."Why had they told her he'd done that? "Mrs. Stein is nearly eighty and she lost her husband a year ago. I saw that she got a deal. That's all.""You bought it from the manufacturer at wholesale and let her have it at cost. And your photovoltaic installers put it in for her.""Because she could use the break. Brandon asked me to help her out. Occasionally, I do favors like that for my brother.""Come on. You didn't do it for Brandon's sake."Irritation clawed deeper, causing his eye to twitch. "Of course I did. We've been getting along great," he said, and that was true. He and Brandon had once been rivals. They hadn't met until they were in high school, when Brandon's mother married Kyle's father. Two large-and-in-charge boys so close in age would understandably have a difficult period of adjustment. But the dynamic was different these days. In spite of everything that'd happened back then, and with Noelle and Olivia since, Kyle cared about Brandon. He got the impression Brandon cared, too. At least, he heard from his stepbrother quite a bit. He also saw Brandon and Olivia every Friday at Black Gold Coffee. They'd joined the close-knit group of friends Kyle had grown up with."Quit lying to yourself," she spat. "You'd do anything for Olivia. The way you stare after her when she leaves a room—or you avoid looking at her if you're in the same room—makes it so obvious. They'd see it themselves, except they don't want to see it."His blood pressure shot a little higher. "Fine," he said. "You want a solar hot water system? I'll offer you the same deal I gave Brandon and Olivia's neighbor."She seemed startled that he'd capitulated so suddenly. But there wasn't any point in refusing. She'd never be able to afford it. Besides, he didn't want to talk about Olivia. What Noelle said was true. Olivia was her sister—which was a big part of the reason Noelle had gone after him in the first place—but Olivia had been, and still was, the one great love of his life. She'd been with him before she'd ever been with Brandon."That's better," Noelle said. "So…how much will it cost? I have nearly $250 in my account."She stated that amount proudly. She wasn't good at saving money, so this did signify quite a feat. But, as usual, she was completely clueless—or, more likely, cal-culatedly clueless. "That's what I thought," he said."What?""You don't have enough to buy even a traditional water heater.""I don't?" She sounded dismayed. "How much are they?""A decent one will run you eight hundred or more.""And how much is solar?""Nearly three grand.""You've got to be kidding me!" she cried. "How do you expect me to pay that?""I don't expect you to pay it. You need to drive over to the hardware store and see what's in your price range.""In other words, you don't give a shit whether I'm in a bind."His head was beginning to pound… "I'm sorry your water heater died, but it's not my problem.""You can't help me?"Morgan tapped the glass between her workstation and his office and made a face at him.He waved her away. "What do you expect me to do?""A solar hot water system can't cost you that much," she replied."It can and it does. Check the retail price and you'll see it's around six grand. Wholesale would be about half of that.""Then maybe you can put one in and let me make payments.""We're divorced! And you're only renting. Call your landlord.""Harry won't do anything. He's letting me stay here for a lot less than he'd charge someone else. Why do you think he gave me such a good deal?""Because he's your cousin?""Because in order to get that deal, I have to take care of all maintenance and repairs.""Then it's on you.""If you can't get me solar, can you at least help me pay for a regular water heater? From what you just told me, I only need another $550. What're a few hundred bucks to you? You make so much more than I do!""That doesn't mean I'm obligated to pay for it. You got extra money out of me last month. And the month before.""Because I needed a D&C, Kyle. I've been having female trouble ever since I lost the baby. Remember?"As usual, she'd chosen something he had to be careful not to question. That didn't stop him from wondering, however. Had she really needed a D&C? Or were the documents she'd shown him forged? It could be that he'd paid for another boob job, after all. He wasn't even sure she'd lost the baby that had supposedly created the need for a D&C. Had she even had a "miscarriage" five and a half years ago? Maybe she'd aborted it. He'd always suspected her of lying, suspected that after she got him to marry her, she'd purposely terminated the pregnancy. At that point, she wouldn't see any reason to risk damaging her figure, which she protected above all else."I remember," he said through gritted teeth. He didn't want to talk about that, either. It was easier to bury the doubt and the suspicion and try to forget the past."You don't care."Maybe he would if he believed it was true. But with Noelle—who could say? Whenever she needed money, she came up with an excuse he'd be hard-pressed to decline—medical treatment, that she'd be evicted, that she wouldn't have electricity or food."Look, I paid for the procedure," he said. "That's all that matters. I hope you're feeling better. Now I've got to go. I have a lot to do here—""Wait! What about my water heater?""What about it?" he asked in exasperation."You seriously won't give me a small loan? Then will you let me stay in the farmhouse until I can get it fixed on my own?"No way was she coming anywhere near his property. She would never live there. "Absolutely not. I've got the farmhouse cleaned up and ready to lease.""But it's been ready to lease for two months, and it's sat empty that whole time. Why not let me move in until I'm back on my feet? You're not likely to get someone now."What was she talking about? "Why not?""The holidays. People are busy with shopping and wrapping and decorating.""Not everyone. Matter of fact, I have someone coming to see it tonight. He's ninety percent sure he wants it. He just has to see it in person to confirm. Then he'll sign.""Who is it?" she asked.Kyle checked the information he'd jotted on his desk calendar. "Guy by the name of Meade.""Never heard of him…""He's from Nashville. Only needs it for a few months, but he asked me to furnish it, so—""Furnish it with what?" she broke in. "It's not like you have a furniture warehouse.""There are companies that rent furniture. I called a place in Sacramento, chose some items from their website, and they brought it all out. The place is move-in ready now. Looks great.""You went to that much trouble for someone who's only staying for a few months? I thought you wanted a year's lease. That's what you told me when I asked about it.""He's paying a premium—for the furniture, my time and trouble in acquiring it and the short term. Even if he decides he hates the house and I have to send the furniture back, he's covering all of that. In any case, you didn't lose out, because I wouldn't let you move in, no matter what." The past few months, she'd been trying her best to get back with him. The last thing he needed was to allow her to be that close—not to mention he'd never see a dime of rent."Even though I'd be willing to sign for a year?""Even if you'd be willing to sign for ten.""You can be so mean," she said.Mean? He thought he was being incredibly nice—considering that merely talking to her made him want to punch himself in the face. "We've talked about this before. I'll take Meade's deal, if I can get it, and try to find another tenant next summer, when school's out.""That's great for you, but what about me? Can't I use it until he moves in?"The childlike whine that entered her voice made his eye-twitch worse. Patience, he reminded himself. Breathe deeply and speak kindly. "He hasn't said when that'll be. But since he's coming all the way from Tennessee to look at it, I'm guessing he could move in tonight.""In the middle of the storm that's coming in?""Why not? He'll just carry in his luggage. How hard can that be, whether there's a storm or not?""So you're going to leave me in the lurch—the woman who would've been the mother of your child if that child had survived?"Before he could respond, Morgan knocked briskly and opened the door. "Don't tell me you're still on with her."He sent her a frown that told her to mind her own business, but she didn't leave."I have a call from LA," she said. "Some guy wants a special deal on a 10-megawatt order."Which was such a big order, no one at his company could provide the pricing but him. He changed the phone to his other ear. "Noelle, I've got to go.""I can't believe you're doing this!""What else am I supposed to do?""You have the contacts. You could get me a water heater and let me make payments, if you weren't so stingy.""Kyle?" Morgan prompted, reminding him—as if he needed her to—of the far more important caller on the other line.He almost told Noelle to go down to the hardware store and have the checker call him for his credit card information. He wanted to get rid of her, and they'd done that kind of remote purchase before, when someone threw a rock through her window (likely the girlfriend of someone she'd flirted with at Sexy Sadie's). But the more he gave her, the more she'd keep coming back to him. He had to break the cycle.Fortunately, he thought of a solution that should've been obvious to him from the start. "I've got a water heater here," he said. "It's the one I took out of Brandon's neighbor's house. If you'll have someone pick it up and install it, I'll give it to you.""You're sure it works?"Morgan propped her hands on her hips and scowled at him, refusing to leave until he took that business call."It did when my guys removed it. No reason that should've changed. She wanted solar mainly to be responsible to the environment." He'd been planning to donate the water heater to a poor family who could use it. But Noelle fit the bill. She didn't have much money, despite juggling two jobs. Working in retail part-time, and then as a barmaid nights and weekends, she didn't make a whole lot. What she did earn, she spent on clothes and beauty aids."Okay. Thanks." Noelle lowered her voice. "I'm happy to oblige if you'd like…something in return.""I don't need anything," he said."You sure about that?"

All of her books are an automatic buy for me. I have been following this series since almost the beginning. My review may be bias.I was a day late purchasing this book. I honestly could not wait for my library to purchase this book. Following Kyle thru the story knowing that he needed someone who was worthy of his love. Knowing that his ex-wife would not ever release him from her obsession and keep trying her own weird stalking of him. After buying this book late Wednesday night I quickly jumped into reading. I stayed up way to late and did not get finished. I finally found time to finish the book Thursday afternoon. I loved almost everything about the story. Finally Kyle found his true love and the hold by Noelle was lost forever.I loved how the story had Riley and Phoenix's wedding. I loved the part where Kyle finally got Noelle to admit to everything. Finally we would see Kyle break away from her claws. The only part I have problems with is the town and Noelle's parents not apologizing to Kyle. Hopefully readers will see that in the next book. For me Lourdes was the perfect woman to show Kyle how wonderful true love really is. Granted she was going through her own heartache and suffering. But she showed Kyle that the love he felt for Olivia was weak and not the lasting type of love she had for him.The bunnies and I highly recommend this book. Purchase today and travel to Whiskey Creek again while dreaming of your own Whiskey Creek romance. The bunnies and I give this book 5 carrots. It really rocks!

A Winter Wedding By Sue P A Winter Wedding by Brenda Novak takes us back to Whiskey Creek into the lives of a closely knit, unique group of friends. This is Kyle's story.I have always liked Kyle, from the pieces I've seen of him in other Whiskey Creek novels, and felt that he had a lot of depth to him. This shines through in A Winter Wedding! Kyle has definitely had his ups and downs...the love of his life is now married to his step brother, and Kyle himself was briefly married to her sister, Noelle. Now he's dealing with an ex who doesn't want to let him go. Staying in Whiskey Creek is what Kyle wants though, even if it means his chances of finding another woman to love are slim to none.Lourdes is a country music star seeking her muse, finding herself, and looking forward to anonymity while she stays in Whiskey Creek. Through a twist of fate, Lourdes ends up staying in Kyle's house with him instead of the farmhouse she's supposed to be in. Slowly Kyle and Lourdes become closer, even if a future together is impossible. Because Lourdes is not staying in Whiskey Creek and Kyle is not leaving...but does it have to be that black and white? I enjoyed getting to know Kyle and Lourdes, especially Kyle separately from the group of friends that this series revolves around. They are all so unique. I felt like Lourdes and Kyle were good for each other and that Whiskey Creek was good for Lourdes because it shows her a whole different side of life. One that she likes. I really hoped she could find a way to stay part of this place and with Kyle.As we take the journey of Kyle and Lourdes becoming closer than either of them expected, Kyle's ex wife Noelle is a significant secondary character through out A Winter Wedding. She is an interesting character and I wonder if she has some underlying psychological issues. Brenda writes this character very well, and through this Noelle even had me believing her at times. It was sad to see her unravel through the book, and I hope to find out more about her in future Whiskey Creek books. As easy as she was to dislike, I found myself really hoping she would get some help.We see and hear about characters from other Whiskey Creek books in A Winter Wedding, and I liked this carry forward, even if it is on the periphery. I would recommend reading the other Whiskey Creek novels if you want to get a good grasp of all the characters and their backgrounds. There is a lot going on in A Winter Wedding, but Brenda works it all together very well, and it plays like real life.A Winter Wedding makes you believe in love, despite all the bumps in the road, and I'd recommend it to any romance reader.I received a free copy of A Winter Wedding for an honest review.

Brenda Novak's Whiskey Creek series started out with Kyle's wedding and his losing the love of his life to his brother ( When We Touch Book 0.5) and he now gets his own happy ending in A Winter Wedding (Book 9). Kyle Houseman is surrounded by his good friends, great business and a small town he loves. But all these weddings and babies made him more lonely than ever before. With all his friends pairing up and raising a family and there having to be no prospect for him in his hometown (there is no way he is ever going back to his crazy ex despite what she wants) he starts thinking if he really has no way of getting over his first love who happens to be his sister in law. Until his new tenant comes along and she isn't what he expected. Lourdes Bennet is having doubts and a career crisis. When she rented a house in Whiskey Creek to try writing songs for her next album she was also hoping her longterm lover/manager would come along and try to patch up their relationship. Instead it seems that like her career, her relationship is going by the way of newer and younger talent. Now all she wants to do is huddle alone in her misery and maybe she can put out one more album that could resurrect her career. She never counted on Kyle though. A Winter Wedding was a heartfelt, sweet and wonderful friends to lovers story and for fans of the series one that has been anticipated for awhile. Kyle and Lourdes were two pretty amazing characters. They aren't angsty or broken or flawed. They had to deal with a lot emotional and relationship stuff in their recent past but they seem to survive it and they are both accomplished in their fields. So their conflicts are mostly minor and dealt with really well. What stands out in this book (aside from the fantastic cover) is how easy these two characters are with each other, no conflict, no angst just easy going friendship that eventually turned into something more. Now there is some external obstacles barring the road to true love (crazy exes!) but overall it was great. A totally engaging couple Lourdes and Kyle turned out to be.

A very comprehensive book about this to do and places to see in Cinque Terre By Randy I've been to Cinque Terre many years ago and it was so beautiful. Reading this book I realized I missed so much of what the area has to offer, I wished I would've had this book while I traveled there. I'm planning another trip soon so this book will definitely be essential. I appreciate the book describing so many places to go see, as well as things to do. I remember doing some of the suggestions and how enjoyable it was, and now looking forward to so many more possibilities.
