About the Author Anna Marie Kittrell works as a middle school secretary in the same small Oklahoma town where she grew up. There she resides with her high school sweetheart-turned-husband, Tim, and their wonderfully creative theatre-major daughter. Anna has written poetry and stories for as long as she can remember. She still has most of her tattered creations—leftovers she was unable to sell on the playground for a dime—written in childish handwriting on notebook paper, bound with too many staples. By Rocky Mountain Reader Reviews I really loved this book, and if you enjoy Christian poetry, I believe that you will love it too. It covers a vast array of Christian topics. Some of the poems are deeply moving, and others are extremely funny. All of them are thought provoking. When I started reading, I decided to color my favorite lines yellow and put colored tabs by the poems I enjoyed. By the time I finished the book, I had gone through two colored pencils and two stacks of sticky tabs. You should see my book now, it's a riot of colored tabs and highlighted lines. Some of the poems are so good that I plan on memorizing them. I give this book an enthusiastic five stars, and in my opinion, it's worth more stars than that. I thought it was terrific!

Speaks to the soul By Anita Klumpers You know those little sticky tabs you put in books to mark your page or a passage you want to keep track of?Well, my copy of "Brushing Fire" is fairly bristling with them. So many poems in here (pretty much all of them) are worth revisitingand mulling over. Intensely personal, the poet still speaks words so many of us feel in the depths of our souls but can't articulate. Some poemsspeak of grief and regrets, some speak words of warning and some of glory and longing, but grace washes over every one of them."Soul Poetry" is an apt subtitle for this lovely volume of verse.
