2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. A relatively light and easy read. By Peter Wilding Dickens at his most objective. His description of the wreck of the Royal Charter and his appreciation of the work done by the Rev Hughes and his household for the families of the victims is a literary and historical highlight. This work is an informed commentary about people, their strengths and foibles, and events as Dickens observed them mostly in and around the London of his day.
