Ebook PDF Online The Daisy Game: How I Lost the Game and Found Myself: A Memoir of Poetry and Prose (Ditch the Daisy Book 2), by Debra Rose

The Daisy Game is not your typical book of poetry. In it, Debra speaks frankly about her personal journey of life and love; a story that has spanned over thirty years. She combines poetry and prose in a way that feels like a musical-in-a-book. Her poems tell part of the story, and the prose gives readers a peek into her past, her present, and her future. If you’ve ever loved and lost, this book is for you. If you've been dating the same type of person over and over, and are tired of "he loves me, he loves me not," this book is for you. If you want to stop pluckin' petals, and you long to find true love, this book is for you. The Daisy Game is full of emotion, humor and truth. Everyone has a story, and Debra believes that when we share our stories, we can help others who may be going through the same thing, even if it's just to let them know that they're not alone.

Midnight’s Chicken is based on one segment of my life-long journey that took me to over 130 countries. Cal O Cal, the narrator and the main character in the book, is my alter ego. The book is a sequence of interconnected satirical stories that began when a pair of beautiful yellow pants suddenly entered my life and we decided to travel the world together. What follows is a bizarre concoction of fact, fantasy, and fiction mixed with several real and imaginary characters including dinosaurs, Loch ness monsters, Gods, Genghis Khan, Buddha and Dalai Lama. The story begins and ends in Munich, which is where I live; and therefore the book carries a strong running theme of German life revolving around beer, cheese and dirndls. The story starts with an insight into the bizarre circumstances surrounding my birth, my unusual education at a Chinese restaurant, my beliefs in edible Gods, my weird sarcastic humor, and my connection to Germans who refused to joke--all vital pieces of information for the establishment of my character as the narrator of the story. And then we go around the world from Germany through India, Burma, Philippines, Australia, South Korea, China, Mongolia, Tibet, Scotland, Portugal, Spain and back to Munich. The reason why the book is titled Midnight’s Chicken will reveal itself during the course of the book. As a traveler, I used to write daily observational short stories on social media using satire, sarcasm and irony, which appealed to some people who insisted that I should write a book. Midnight's Chicken was born. As someone who lived in Asia, Europe and North America, I consider myself a global citizen. However, the stories are told as someone who does not belong to any one nationality, race, religion or culture.

Midnight's Chicken, by Cal O Cal

Review Excerpts from the book Midnight's Chicken.About Bavarians:"Bavarians normally hang around in groups; often near watering holes, lying in the sun, grunting, scratching, licking, biting, mating, kissing, cuddling and picking lice off each other's hair. If you must approach them, always lay low, move very very slowly, do not make any sudden quick movements, do not make any noise, and do not make eye contact. Only when you are at a safe distance, whisper slowly but gently. Identify yourself and wait. You must wait. Oh you must wait. You must be patient. Do not repeat yourself. Do not raise your voice. They have heard you the first time. Repeating only annoys them and makes them very aggressive. And whatever you do, do not, I repeat, do not smile because that will confuse the heck out of a Bavarian and trust me, you do not want to be around a confused Bavarian. If all goes well, and if you are lucky, one of the Bavarians will look at you and asks what you want in their trademark pissed off tone. It's normal so do not get shocked or offended. Answer politely, in a low voice, keep it short, get to the point quickly and everything will be alright. One wrong move anywhere and it could get violently fatal especially if she happens to be one of those gorgeous blonde Bavarian beauties sunbathing naked."About China:"Two such bizarre habits are China's obsession with spitting in public and cutting in lines. I thought Indians were the masters at these two games but Chinese will match them spit to spit and shove to shove. While Indians generally spit outside on the streets and on the walls, Chinese will happily dispense their divine oral juices mixed with a glob of phlegm right where they are whether they are standing in a line, or sitting in a waiting area or even inside a train or a bus--usually after a warning growl that comes from the back of their throat. You must act fast to get out of the way cuz once released, the glob of phlegm turns into an intercontinental ballistic missile and will chase you down as has happened to me that morning.I was standing in line at the train station to get my ticket to Chengdu when I suddenly heard the pre-spit growl from a man behind me. I know what was gonna happen next cuz I was directly in the line of fire. The man was about to fire the spit missile and I had to act fast before it hits me. It was in that split second I decided to become Chinese for a moment and cut in front of the line and rushed towards the ticket counter. In that very moment the man let out the spit. I turned my head and noticed that the spitball of mucus was coming directly at me. In the last micro millisecond, I ducked backwards ninety degrees like Jackie Chan and watched the spit go past my face like a bullet almost scraping my nose--in slow motion. That was so close. I thought I was lucky and thought I got away with it. I was wrong. I turned around and to my utter horror, saw that the spit made a U-turn and was coming right back at me and this time it looked angry. Once again I ducked in the very last split second and escaped another close call. The glob of spit, stopped in the midair for a second, turned around, stretched a bit, and was ready to attack me once again. It was in that moment I realized that it was not just any spit. It was actually a precision guided missile, and it will not stop until it hits the target--me. So there I was, in a Chinese train station, running all over, being chased by a disgusting and angry lugie. Suddenly I felt Jackie Chan enter my body and suddenly I became a Kung Fu fighter. I was running, dodging, ducking, swaying, bending, slipping, sliding, and walking on the vertical walls making backward flips like Jackie. But no matter what I did, the spitball didn't get tired and kept chasing me all over the train station. In between the chases, I was running from counter to counter, cutting in front of lines and screaming "One ticket to Chengdu please". All I heard back from the ladies behind the glass windows was "Chi Chi Chi Chi Chi" or at least that's how it sounded to my ears.Suddenly my feet started to hurt and were getting tired of running. I realized that there is no way I could escape from the bloody spit by running. It will chase me forever. I had to do something different. I dodged it one more time and took a good look at it. Something suddenly sparked in my brain. I noticed that everytime I dodged it, the momentum was forcing it to travel in the air for a few more meters before it stops, turns around and gets ready to attack. Quickly I calculated in my mind its flight, path, trajectory, curvature, and velocity, and suddenly I realized that I was making a mistake by running away from it.All I had to do was trick it into a path of self-destruction. I knew exactly what I wanted to do next. I understand physics; but the spit does't cuz spit didn't go to high school. And it was this lack of understanding of physics by the stupid spit I was gonna take full advantage of. I know it was getting ready to attack me once again. This time it went much farther and was planning to come at me at full force and at super high speed. I saw it stretch even longer with much wider wingspan for maximum speed. I slowly moved towards the ticket counter walking backwards. I stopped when my back hit the glass window. All the people in the lines moved away and gathered on both sides to watch the showdown with bated breath. So there we were, me with my back against the glass window, and the gooey slimy spit suspended in the air getting ready to attack me any second. We kept staring at each other. Everybody was tense and suddenly the soundtrack from Jaws started playing as the spit started to move towards me and was gaining speed and momentum. I did not move. I did not run. I remained still. What the spit didn't know was that there was glass behind me. If it misses me, it has no choice but to crash into the glass. There was no way it could escape. Because of the momentum, it would have no chance to stop or turnaround. But the spit didn't know that cuz it was stupid. I saw it coming at meat great speed but I remained unmoved looking straight into its eyes and once again, one micro millisecond before it was about to hit me, I ducked. Another micro millisecond later, I heard a great thud, crash, splash and splutter--plutttschhhhttt made the sound. I turned around and that's when I saw it, the spit, clinging to the glass, holding on to dear life. It looked at me one last time and died in its own pool of mucus. I looked around and that's when I noticed dozens of dead mucus all over the glass window. Apparently I was not the first one who got chased by a ball of mucus in that train station.Suddenly a little hand with little fingers holding a piece of paper popped out of the little opening in the glass window. The little lady attached to the hand said "Chi Chi Chi Chi Chi Chi". I looked at the piece of paper. It was my ticket to Chengdu."

Who likes to read David Sedaris will enjoy Cal o Cal’s writing By Andra Diana Riemhofer This is the first fiction-eBook I ever downloaded, and I hope it will be published in print soon, so I can gift it to my friends. I treat the collection of short stories like a box of fine chocolates—I enjoy one piece at a time. There are many things I like a lot about this book. What I would like to emphasize is that the author—intentionally or not—manages to help me as a German reflect my own culture and values. Since I have written my Master’s Thesis on how (in this case Children’s and YA Literature) can help you improve your intercultural competencies, or at least support you develop an awareness, I can say that Cal o Cal has done a great job in this field also.I especially liked what he said about German women, and how they are like potatoes. Cal o Cal really has a talent for explaining the most complex issues in a comprehensive and illustrative way. In my opinion who likes to read David Sedaris will definitely enjoy Cal o Cal’s writing.

Like a movie script for mind travels By bäuerin Cynical, satirical, entertaining and intelligent comments on author's everyday's life in "his Munich". And not only about Munich, Biergarten and Dirndls, but about his numerous travels around the whole world! You learn about life and people in many regions of the world. Sometimes you might get the impression of persons and situations being described stereotypically and exaggerated, but that's Cal O Cal's fiction! The good old English tradition of travel literature, individually interpreted with plenty of black humor and phantasy. "Midnight Chicken" is the perfect movie script for exciting mind travels.

The Adventures of Hajji Baba, of Ispahan: Edited , by C.J. Wills, by James Justinian Morier

From the Back Cover Full of rip-roaring exploits, witty satire, and nimble humor, this classic work of fiction, first published in 1824, launches readers along on the rags-to-riches escapades of Hajji Baba, the lazy son of a barber, as he seeks his fortune... but only if it doesn't demand too much work of him.

James Morier's journeys through the Middle East as a representative of the British government lent him an extensive and intimate knowledge of Iranian culture, one that he used to great effect in his writing. The translation into Persian of Hajji Baba is, in fact, considered one of the masterpieces of the 19th-century literature of the language, with many native speakers unaware that it was originally penned by a visiting Englishman.

Long out of print, this wild novel is sure to delight new generations of armchair adventurers.

About the Author English author, diplomat, and adventurer JAMES JUSTINIAN MORIER (1780-1849) served as the British ambassador to the court of Persia from 1810 to 1816. He is also remembered for his memoir A Journey through Persia, Armenia and Asia Minor to Constantinople in 1808.

7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. A still fresh picaresque Persian adventure By Lois Chaney Having very recently returned from a three-week trip in Iran, I was impelled to read J. J. Morier's Adventures of Hajji Baba of Ispahan in a Heritage Club edition that had sat, ignored, on my bookshelf for decades.Purportedly retold by the chaplain to the Swedish Embassy in Constantinople (Istanbul), this is a lively and comic first-person account by Hajji Baba, a barber's son who travels throughout Persia--and Turkey--during the early 19th century with references at one point to Napoleon. All the places Hajji Baba visits are real with references to still existing monuments such as the Royal Mosque in Imam Square, Esfahan. The fascinating social conventions and the tribal differences between the many peoples who still make up much of contemporary Iran, really haven't changed that much over the past 200 years. The characters Hajji Baba meets all have their own riveting inset stories. But Hajii Baba's accounts of his up-and-down fortunes are probably the best. His many, and always temporary, occupations include that of a dervish, a smoke seller, an executioner's assistant, a novice mullah, and a small-time merchant of tobacco pipes. He has two affairs of the heart, both ending in disaster. Throughout, his personal morality is at best flexible so he usually merits the downs, such as having his feet beaten to jelly, as well as the ups. The novel ends with the Shah appointing him as a deputy accompanying the vizier to England. At the end, Peregrine Persic, the fictional author, promised a second volume covering this subsequent part of Hajji Baba's life, but to my knowledge it was never published. This lively novel should be of major interest to anyone who has visited Iran where most of the frenetic animal traffic of camels, horses and mulesLonely Planet Iran (Country Guide) has been replaced with a terrifying mix of cars, trucks and motorcycles. For those who have not, Hajji Baba provides a great reason for such a trip.

A fine tale to keep on the shelf By Antonio Cacciolla A wonderful rollicking adventure that takes you back to a time of innocence in terms of pre air travel and international blandnes, homoginization and cell phones. Where an adventure meant not knowing what was around the next corner instead of googling google earth to see what's there just in case. The butcher son is clear and clean and I enjoyed most was the mid volume tale of the 'Story of the Baked Head'. I have the Random House edition of 1937 with it wonderful colour illustrations (somewhat art deco to my eye) and in text line drawings. A wonderful tale to read to youngish readers if you are not of the politically correct lineage. Enjoy and expand.

It was so entralling, I could not put it down until I finished it.As someone who has himself spent years in the Middle East, and even married into the culture, I find Morier's accounting of Haji Baba completely credible. In fact, except for the time, and places, many of Haji Baba's adventures closely parallel my own. This book is worth having in one's library as a classic.

Blood Work (Wisconsin Poetry Series), by Matthew Siegel

Review “This unexpected book—a genuine contribution to the literature of illness—centers on containment: how we contain our blood, how blood is contained in tubes and vials, how sometimes we do not seem contained by our bodies, and sometimes the body seems to contain nothing, and even how in the face of control or self-reliance leaking away, we might manage to contain ourselves, to feel held, to feel held in place. The deceptive directness of Siegel’s debut is remarkable; in his capable hands, illness reveals how barely contained any human being is, and how we reach, alone and together, for whatever will hold us.”—Mark Doty“Siegel’s poems see the world with an immediacy and compassion that could only come from the decision to be vulnerable. It’s such a simple-seeming principle of poetry—yet it is as rare as hen’s teeth. I honor this young poet for the freshness and skill in these poems, his allegiance to the most unpretentious areas of experience, and his courage-teaching heart. Blood Work is a wonderful first book.”—Tony Hoagland“These poems resist the dualities of lyric versus narrative, confessional versus impersonal, real against surreal, formal/improvisational, comic/sad. Matthew Siegel manages to tick off all the boxes at once, while remaining compulsively readable. The trick that he’s pulled off is to make a book that simultaneously tickles you and shakes you by the scruff of your neck.”—Lucia Perillo, Felix Pollak Prize judge“Explores how the inner self is affected by Crohn’s disease. . . . Poetry fan or not, this collection is not to be missed.”—Los Angeles Magazine

About the Author Matthew Siegel was a Wallace Stegner Fellow at Stanford University. He teaches literature and creative writing at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

London bank robber Frank Mason has never pulled of his own crime job without the help of his mastermind wife Elsie. Trapped in a loveless marriage, a loveless affair with his mistress Linda, and with the pressure of Elsie’s gangster father looming over him, Frank needs a miracle to maintain his reputation in the criminal underworld. But luckily Frank has The Plan: a full-blown, international crime caper. Frank and his band of eccentric miscreants, including the demanding Linda and his right hand man and protégé Tony Horton, are off to Madeira to pull off an almost impossible bank job. Little does Frank know, however, that members of his team are planning a double cross, and with Chief Superintendent Gower closing in, the team unravelling, and Elsie becoming more and more suspicious, Frank’s plan is fast becoming a disaster. Can Frank pull off his scheme before it’s too late? Or will the Madeiran plan fall foul at the feet of the Double Cross? ‘The Madeiran Double Cross’ is a gripping international heist thriller from bestsellig author Sally Spencer. 'A compelling read.' - Robert Foster, best-selling author of 'The Lunar Code.' Sally Spencer worked as a teacher both in England and Iran - where she witnessed the fall of the Shah. She now writes full time. She is also the author of the Blackstone Victorian crime series. Endeavour Press is the UK's leading independent digital publisher. The Madeiran Double Cross, by Sally Spencer

Review Spencer's latest offers an enjoyable combination of caper novel and police procedural. Characters are well developed, the story moves at a good pace, and Spencer uses her two settings --England and Madeira-- evocatively. The novel is reminiscent of those suave and funny crime movies of the 1950s starring Cary Grant or David Niven. John Rowen, Booklist (Review of The Paradise Job, the hardback version of The Madeiran Double Cross, originally published by Severn House) Reviews of other novels by the same author:  "Spencer's finest hour: a tightly plotted puzzler with surprises at every turn" Kirkus Reviews  "Spencer is an accomplished craftsman who serves up a good puzzle and deftly solves it with intelligence and insight" Publishers Weekly

From the Author I got the idea for this novel on my first visit to Madeira. At the time, I was living in Madrid, where ETA  (the Basque terrorists) had been funding itslef by robbing banks. As a result, I was used to banks that had armed guards, double doors, bullet-proof glass, and many more security systems that were not visible to customers.  So the banks in Madeira seemed incredibly unprotected and inviting.  BUT how could I get the money and the criminals safely off the island after the robbery?  Once I'd worked that out, I had a plot - and Frank had The Plan.

About the Author Sally Spencer is a pen name, first adopted when the author (actually called Alan Rustage) was writing sagas and it was almost obligatory that a woman's name appeared on the cover (other authors like Emma Blair and Mary Jane Staples are also men).   Before becoming a full-time writer, he was a teacher. In 1978-79 he was working in Iran and witnessed the fall of the Shah (see the Blog  on sallyspencer.com for what it was like to live through a revolution). He got used to having rifles - and, one occasion, a rocket launcher - pointed at him by both soldiers and revolutionaries, but was never entirely comfortable with it.   He lived in Madrid for over twenty years, and still considers it the most interesting and exciting city he has ever visited, but for the last few years he has opted for a quieter life in the seaside town of Calpe, on the Costa Blanca.   His first series of books were historical sagas set in Cheshire (where he grew up) and London. They were very popular with his English readers, but his American readers find the dialect something of a strain.   He has written twenty books featuring DCI Woodend (a character based partly on a furniture dealer he used to play dominoes with) and ten (so far!) about Woodend's protegé Monika Paniatowski.   His DI Sam Blackstone books are set in Victorian/Edwardian London, New York and Russia, and the Inspector Paco Ruiz books have as their backdrop the Spanish Civil War.   Alan is a competitive games player who likes bridge and pub quizzes. It is only by enforcing iron discipline that he doesn't play video games all the time.

6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. funny and very clever By Mike H. The seemingly insoluble problem – if you rob a bank on an island hundreds of miles from the mainland, how do you escape? – is only the starting point for this book. The Madeiran Double Cross is crammed with characters who are larger than life, yet really believable, and are all intent on double-crossing and triple-crossing not only the book’s hero – Frank Mason, an ordinary decent criminal, who just wants to pull off one more job – but also each other. The book’s characters drew me in, and it’s exciting, funny and very clever, with as many twists and turns as the island roads up to the mountain peaks!

By Wendy Soliman 'Without a sawn-off shotgun in his hand, Frank Mason always felt vulnerable in banks.' That's the first line in this book. How could one possibly not read on?This was a fun British crime book in which Frank plans the ultimate bank job on the island of Madeira, fed up with his wife always being the brains behind their criminal activities and constantly putting him down. He'll show her! Double and treble crossing ensues and the reader finds himself rooting for Frank who, in spite of being a villain, also seems like a good guy.A twist at the end that I didn't see coming and altogether a fun caper. I seldom give five star reviews but this one is richly deserved.

Enjoyable, fast moving *crimie" novel By Pedro dM Great insight into the mind and actions of a bank robber and his gang; lots of twists and turns in the plot, kept up the suspense until the last page. Enjoyed the clever plot and dialogue, Sally Spencer has the remarkable ability to put dialect into the mouths of his characters. This mystery is a change from the author's previous books.

Two miles beneath the Antarctic ice lies Lake Vostok. Dark. Forgotten. The way it should be. A few years ago, scientists found evidence hinting at the presence of gold in the lake. A desperate Arthur Sinclair, Chairman of the near-bankrupt AmCorp, wants to force the Vostok Station scientists to go find the gold. Arthur Sinclair has forgotten one thing. Lake Vostok does not want them there. A forced expedition into Lake Vostok becomes a frantic attempt to escape back to the surface, when ancient bacteria feeds on the submarine and the people inside. Up above, a polar cyclone rages, keeping everyone cooped up, while a disguised assassin roams among them, intent on sabotage and murder. Panic sets in as the reality of their situation hits home. Will anyone get out alive? Only one man, John Weaver, might save them. Unfortunately he's stuck in the sub and, even if he does reach the surface, there's still the matter of a spy hidden among them. And Lake Vostok is coming. The Vostok Juncture is a bobsled run of a story, hurtling headlong to an unstoppable collision. Filled with claustrophobic scenes, intense danger, murder, horror, and deadly action, the Vostok Juncture is what happens when man and nature collide. Nature usually wins.

BUT .....1). Setting this one in the (whatever)Corp universe contributed nothing at all to the story and distracted from the important parts of the action plot.2). The dialogue was not natural. Instead of using characters' natural conversations to tell the story, the author told the story by forcing what he wants conveyed out the characters' mouths. I.E. the characters don't speak the way you would to a friend or associate.

The pace was incredible, keeping me on edge until the very end. And what a mind-blowing end that I did not see coming!I've been a fan Chatelaine's writing since "The Caves of Etretat". His unique style, mixed with credible science bits make for enjoyable reading. Can't wait for his next book!Mark Hache

Ancient volcanoes preserved as deeply eroded scraps. Seafloors forced high into the sky. Fossils of a long-extinct, 385-pound flightless bird that roamed subtropical floodplains. From the crest of the Cascades to the Pacific, and from the Columbia River north to the Canadian border, the ghosts of deep time are widely exposed in western Washington. But geology never really dies. It is very much active and alive in the region: volcanoes periodically erupt, showering their surroundings with ash; earthquakes shake Earth s surface and the constructions of humans, sending tsunamis ashore to wreak havoc; and melting alpine glaciers send forth great floods of water. In Geology Underfoot in Western Washington, the most recent addition to the Geology Underfoot series, author and geoscientist Dave Tucker narrates western Washington s geologic tales, covering sites from it s low-lying shorelines to its rugged mountaintops. The book s 22 chapters, or vignettes, lead you to easily accessible stops along Washington s highways and some trails, too. A healthy dose of full-color illustrations and photos compliments the author s illuminating prose, further demystifying Washington s geologic wonders. With Geology Underfoot in Western Washington in hand, you ll soon feel like an Evergreen State geology expert.

By Patricia Weston Dave Tucker has written an accessible, entertaining, and very readable guide to Western Washington geology. The introductory material helps the reader grasps the basics of geology, and the vignettes are highlights of places to visit and provide an overview of the most interesting aspects of the region's geologic history and processes. Some places were familiar to me, and some are new. I've learned from this book, and would recommend it to anyone who wants the basics of geology of the area, as well as to experts looking for great places to take visitors and students. The directions are clear, and the illustrations and photographs complement the text well without being confusing. The vignettes of the Seattle and Bellingham areas in particular would make a great guide for those who don't want to put their hiking boots on, as well as for more adventurous folks. Dave is an excellent geology educator, and his documentation and review process was thorough.

Charles Fletcher Lummis (1859 – 1928) was a United States journalist and Indian rights and historic preservation activist; he is also known as a historian, photographer, ethnographer, archaeologist, poet and librarian. The average man and, even more yet, the average woman maintains year in and year out a uniform habit of work and play, desiring no radical change of place or of association. Even when the vacation time arrives (for those who can take vacations) there seems to be a general tendency to seek more of that of which they have already had too much. Those who go away now and then to foreign countries usually keep the busy towns and well traveled roads in sight, even begrudging a slow sail across the ocean. It would most surely be better If those who desire absolute rest by means of absolute change would oftener seek out the wild , but by no means forbidden, places on our own continent where nature has tried her most striking experiment and history has left her most curious traces. Such seems to be the opinion of Mr. Lummls, author of 'Some Strange Corners of Our Country". Crossing the Colorado line and continuing westward through Arizona, we come to that stupendous national wonder, the awe-inspiring Grand Canyon. As Lummis, poetically expresses it: "In the very cradle of recorded Time. the Grand Canon was waiting, under the Slow Smile of God for Man to come to it and know his chiefest wonder-vision on earth: this vast chameleon, unearthly, attainable. Mirage in immortal Rock." This volume describes in chapters of convenient length and with numerous excellent illustrations the scenery and the ancient architectural remains of New Mexico and Arizona, but gives far more space to the strange and the always interesting, customs of the Pueblo and Navajo Indians now living in that corner of our country. The descriptions are given in the style of a true story teller, nevertheless the book gives the impression of being highly instructive as well as fascinating. It is the fruit of careful investigations made by Mr. Lummis and his wife among the tribes and in the regions described. Lummis shows himself thoroughly familiar with the scenes he describes. The strange corners are in the Southwest, and the author never forgets it is 'our' country; indeed, the patriotism is so marked as to be almost didactic. 'Don't go to Europe till you have seen what America has to show' is the substance of his advice to his readers. The book is entertaining, although some of the descriptions so exhaust themselves in superlatives as to lose in vividness. A striking chapter is the one concerning the crucifixion ceremonies of the New Mexican Penitentes. Besides this ghastly horror, the realism of Ober-Ammergau pales into insignificance. if the reader be fired with an ambition to see the places and things described , Mr. Lummis will have attained his object. CONTENTS I The Grandest Gorge In The World II A Forest Of Agate HI The American Sahara IV The Rattlesnake Dance V Where They Beg The Bear's Pardon VI The Witches' Corner VII The Magicians VIII The Self-crucifiers IX Homes That Were Forts X Montezuma's Well XI Montezuma's Castle XII The Greatest Natural Bridge On Earth XIII The Stone Autograph-album XIV The Rivers Of Stone XV The Navajo Blanket XVI The Blind Hunters XVII Finishing An Indian Boy XVIII The Praying Smoke XIX The Dance Of The Sacred Bark XX Doctoring The Year XXI An Odd People At Home XXII A Saint In Court This book originally published in 1892 has been reformatted for the Kindle and may contain an occasional defect from the original publication or from the reformatting.

This is a collection of accounts, and of places to see in the American southwest. Written in a "language" that no longer exists, in a time, unfortunately long gone. The "language" of course is English, but is reminiscent of a 1940's radio guy! The accounts range from witnessing a thunderstorm conjured in a darkened room, to a man getting lost in his backyard, within 100 yards of his home.( in a subterranean cavern ) to visiting Montezuma's castle. Accounts of the pueblo at Taos, the mummy cave and village, Canon Del Muerto, There are many fascinating accounts in this absorbing read. I just got lost into this book. This Title is highly recommended, if you are into history, or the southwest, GET THIS BOOK!
