About the Author Nick Hoff is a writer, translator, and bookseller. SOME ONES is his first book of poetry. Odes and Elegies, his translation of Friedrich Holderlin's poetry, was published by Wesleyan University Press in 2008. A translation of Michael Donhauser's Of Things, undertaken with Andrew Joron, is forthcoming from Burning Deck Press. Hoff lives and works in San Francisco.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A small yet weighty book of poems By Colleen Chen This is a beautiful book. The poems are sparse but incredibly rich. Everything is arranged with perfect precision and meaning--the placement of the words on the page, the punctuation, the progression and layering of themes--from a distant and broad view of the world, to an immersion into the experience of seeing, to an utterly lovely unfolding of emotion that is present between perceiver and perceived, experiencer and experienced.That's what I got from it anyway. It's the sort of collection to read multiple times--it reminds me of how we breathe in and out and then suddenly discover the sweetness and dreamlike creativity of that space in between breaths--that's how this book makes me feel.
