Lovely collection of travel journals By Lars Henschel Twice a year, when my girlfriend and I go on a vacation we pack a travel journal so we don’t forget a second about our trips. We realized that is really hard to find a company that has travel journals for every cities or countries that we wanted to visit. A friend of us recommended us the Wanderlust Journal collection, which are amazing. This company is offering unique travel journals, and not only that but also, if you want to travel anywhere on which they haven’t released yet the journal they create it for you. These are not travel guides, so no hotel, restaurant recommendation included. For that we prefer to search in internet the trendiest place every time we travel. It's a very good deal, quality price.

It's small enough to fit into a traveller's backpack yet with lots of space to write in. Highly recommended! Will buy again and again! Such a handy journal.High quality, vintage look!I looked at a lot of different orders. The price/quality is too good to be true and I would recommend this to anyone, especially if you're buying this as a gift for someone who is going to travel.

After my trip, when I have filled in the journal, I've decided I wanted to have all the collection. That is why I've bought also this one.I want to keep my travel memories alive as much as possible, trying to avoid any app or document in my computer. We already spend lot of time with technology.Additionally, the size is very convenient to put in a carry bag,or purse. So I just love them!

This is a collection of short stories with a Thailand related theme. The subjects range from Male voice choirs, dementia, and pacts with the devil to sex tourism and the inevitable affairs of the heart. The author is a 59 year old Englishman who discovered the delights of the Kingdom of Thailand following a divorce and the realisation he no longer possessed the social skills for the modern breed of western woman. Over the course of several visits he also discovered the pleasures of the pen. In the past ten years he has contributed many short stories and essays to Thailand websites and gained a reputation with his amusing tales and gentle wit. Under the pseudonym “Phet” he developed a substantial following particularly with his popular “The Broken man is repaired” series which appeared on the highly respected Stickman Bangkok website.

But I could see that some people might hate it too. I suspect it will greatly appeal to and amuse the male of the species (as the author might put it), especially males above age fifty treated unkindly by forces greater than themselves (such as their wives, as the author might put it).

Good Bang for the Bangkok (err I meant Buck;) By Johnny I am already a huge fan of Phet from his "Broken Man Repaired" series. He has a nice British writing style with a hint of sarcasm and self-deprecation.My favorite story in this e-book is "Dr. Faust makes a deal". Buy it -This is a great e-book for a small amount of money!

(Grade: B+) By Katie Babs The Billionaire Takes a Bride (Billionaires and Bridesmaids #3) by Jessica Clare is the first book in this on-going series that I’ve read (Even though I didn’t read book 1 and 2, I wasn’t lost). I’m so glad I decided to pick this one up because it’s a fantastic read. It’s an engaging romance with a cute plot and enough uniqueness that really kept me reading to the point I didn’t want to stop. Jessica makes the billionaire hero, who hooks up with a roller derby addicted, soap making Etsy selling heroine work incredibly well. These two are so adorable together!Sebastian is the son of very rich parents. He’s a trust fund baby, but surprisingly well rounded and not a snob, even though his family has their own popular reality show ala The Kardashians. Sebastian refuses to be on the show even though his entire family loves the spotlight. His mother will even fake a cancer scare for ratings. Sebastian wants to stay out of the limelight. But when his ex-girlfriend he dated for a hot second reappears on the show to try and get back with him, he realizes he needs some sort of plan to get rid of her and keep the tabloids, and his mother at bay. That’s where Chelsea comes into the picture.Chelsea loves roller derby, and making a living selling homemade soap on-line. To everyone around her, she’s this happy go lucky woman who seems to enjoy everything life has to offer. but she hides a big secret. She’s afraid of the dark and can’t sleep alone. She was the victim of a rape she can’t remember because she was drugged. The aftermath of her assault sticks with her. She’s not comfortable around men at all. When her fellow roller derby roommate moves out because of a job transfer, Chelsea is worried she’ll have constant panic attacks, especially at night. But things will look up for her when she meets Sebastian at her friend’s engagement party.Sebastian is in awe of Chelsea. She’s very witty and honest, and doesn’t act like he walks on water like most women do. He’s also attracted to her. She’s someone he wouldn’t mind being friends with. Chelsea is very comfortable with Sebastian, so much so, she can relax with him . She’s thrown for a bit of a loop when he offers marriage. It will be a fake marriage in order to get rid of his annoy ex-girlfriend and to beat his mother at her own game. Since Chelsea needs a roommate, and since Sebastian is such a great guy, she accepts and moves into his place. These two bond even further and become very good friends. When Sebastian catches Chelsea having one of her meltdowns because of her fear of her dark, he comforts her. He likes to snuggle with her in bed, not minding if they sleep together because he doesn’t push Chelsea for more. But when she reveals the truth about her issues with being intimate with men, and her assault, Sebastian takes it upon himself to help her heal and offer Chelsea his own special TLC, which Chelsea accepts. The Billionaire Takes a Bride is sexy, sweet and everything else in between. Sebastian is more on the beta side than an alpha. He sees how great of a woman Chelsea is, and hands over his trust to her without expecting anything else in return. Their initial interactions establish a great relationship for these two, which allows them to become lovers. Sebastian is also very supportive of Chelsea’s roller derby, going as far to cheer her on.The only downside is Chelsea’s final step toward her recovery regarding her assault. The way Sebastian “heals” her through his lovemaking was nice, but how her rapist is dealt with and how her case is solved was more of an afterthought and not all that believable. In order for Sebastian and Chelsea to have their HEA, every little issue they have had to be solved, which was just too pat. Some readers may not mind how this was handled, but it threw me out of the story. Otherwise, The Billionaire Takes a Bride was an enjoyable read. It’s one I would recommend to readers who enjoy contemporary romance that has a unique spin on the rich hero and his down to Earth bubbly heroine.Katiebabs

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Emotional and sexy By Miranda BookWhore I’m going to start this by confessing that I clicked this book by mistake. It wasn’t one that I had planned to request and I wasn’t too happy about it, honestly. To quote Bob Ross, “We don’t make mistakes. We just have happy accidents.” That is exactly what this was, a happy accident. The Billionaire Takes a Bride by Jessica Clare is a refreshingly romantic friends to lovers story.Chesty LaRude is one of the toughest roller derby chicks in her league — a real force to be reckoned with — when she dons her skates she is full of confidence and badassery. When the skates come off and she goes back to being just Chelsea, her confidence is shattered and she is practically suffocated by her fears.Sebastian Cabral comes from family money. He’s charming, smart, and sexy as sin. His family stars in a reality tv show, The Cabral Empire — think Housewives, but with one crazy lady and her family instead of multiple crazy ladies. I felt bad for Sebastian, he wanted to stay as far from the insanity as possible and his mom just kept dragging him into the fray. When Sebastian and Chelsea meet at their friends’ engagement party they have an instant chemistry. Neither of them wanted to get hit on by other people at the upcoming wedding events so they decide to be each others ‘safety dates’. Loved it. He quickly became protective of Chelsea and even though he didn’t understand her quirks, he rolled with it and gave her what she needed. The character development in this book is phenomenal and the relationship development didn’t disappoint. Chelsea has so many sides to her personality, it was really easy to connect with her and impossible not to root for her. Sebastian? That man is half saint, I swear. He took on a practical stranger in an unconventional relationship and instead of bailing when he found out she wasn’t as happy-go-lucky as she seemed, he stuck around. Swoon worthy for sure. The Billionaire Takes a Bride is an emotional rollercoaster that gives you all the feels. Four Sexy-Sweet Stars for storyline and Four Wet Panties for smut factor.

By Peggy M I received an ARC from the writer in exchange for a honest review.I just found my absolute favorite book from Jessica Clare and it is this one. I ADORE ‘The billionaire takes a bride’. I just fell in love with Sebastian and Chelsea and their story!Billionaire Sebastian Cabral became a billionaire, not through hard work but because his father is a billionaire and he is the heir. So that makes him a little bit different from the other billionaires. But just like the other billionaires in Jessica Clare her books, he isn’t a snob about it. But being a billionaire doesn’t mean that his life is going over roses. NO! Sebastian has one big problem and that problem is his family reality TV show ‘The Cabral Empire’. It’s bad enough that a huge part of his family love doing crazy things on TV but why do they always want to involve him into their TV show too? He doesn’t want to come on TV or share his private life with the whole world. And now, for the new season, they want him to rekindle his relationship with his ex-girlfriend!?! That is the last thing that Sebastian wants to do! But knowing his mother and the TV producers, he will be hunt down, so Sebastian realizes that he has to take drastic measures to avoid this. But what can he do?!?Sebastian is still thinking about that when he meets Chelsea Hall on Gretchen and Hunter’s dinner party. She is one of Gretchen’s bridesmaids. From the beginning there’s a bond between them and that gives Sebastian a crazy idea. But an idea that will save all their problems. Because unknown to Sebastian, Chelsea has a problem too. Chelsea Hall is a soap maker but her real passion in life is derby skating. And she’s a tough derby skater, she isn’t afraid to give her all! The bruises on her body are proof of it. But all that toughness disappear at night. At night, Chelsea changes into a woman who’s afraid of being alone and who hates the dark.Until now she could always count on her roommate Pisa to help her and support her through the night but Pisa has gotten a big job offer. And although Chelsea is very happy for Pisa, this is bad news for Chelsea because Pisa has to move to an another town, leaving Chelsea alone with her fears during the nights. But then Sebastian, who is one of Hunter’s groomsmen comes with a crazy offer, he wants them to marry, just for pretends. Just long enough to get his crazy family and their TV reality show of his back. And unknown to Sebastian, this can just be the perfect solution for Chelsea her problems too!But what both of them didn’t expect was that this marriage would become more than just a solution to their problems. That it would turn into a real marriage. A marriage where there are feelings involved, partnership and sex! And just when they both start believing that this can be a real marriage, Chelsea’s past and Sebastian family come knocking at their door. And then comes the question is this marriage real or not?Like I said in the beginning, I really loved this story!! Although Sebastian isn’t a ‘real’ alpha man, he is strong. He’s also funny, caring, tender and just the man that Chelsea needs to help her with her fears. And Chelsea is just the kind of woman that Sebastian needs, in her own way strong enough to put up with his crazy mother and their TV reality show and to support with his real passion in life.I’m looking forward to the next book in this wonderful series!

The Law and the Lady: A Novel, by Wilkie Collins

Review "The contemporary 'thriller' is in danger of becoming stereotyped . . . The resources of Wilkie Collins are, in comparison, inexhaustible." -- T. S. Eliot

About the Author English novelist and playwright Wilkie Collins was a prolific writer with a body of work comprising thirty novels, over sixty short stories, more than a dozen plays, and a wide range of non-fiction pieces. Collins is best known for his novels The Woman in White, an early sensation novela genre combining shocking gothic horror with everyday domestic settingsand The Moonstone, which is credited as one of the first modern mystery novels. In the 1850s Collins met Charles Dickens and the two struck up a friendship, which lead to Collins becoming a frequent contributor to Dickens s journals Household Words and All the Year Round. Many of his stories have been adapted for film, including Basil, A Terribly Strange Bed, The Moonstone and The Woman in White. Collins died in 1889 at the age of 65.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Jessica Fletcher meets her match By Francine Smith I really enjoyed this book. It is the predecessor to a lot of the women detective books. Its about a woman who finds out her new husband was once accused of murder. She decides, against a great deal of advice including her husband's, to find evidence of his innocence. On the way, she meets a number of interesting and superbly drawn characters. The book does contain a good deal of Victorian romance and prejudice, however. I found the portrayal of a smart young woman as constantly overcome by her emotions a bit bothersome. Plus, I've never liked love stories and, basically, this is one.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Another Good One for Wilkie By John Benintendi I was not sure how I was going to like this book just finishing the Woman in White a short time ago. I knew going in that this was not one of his more famous works but I bought it since I have read five others written by him and I had so far very much liked all the others (Dead Secret, Haunted Hotel, Woman in White, No Name & The Moonstone). This book did not disappoint me and, in fact, I read it in a mere 4 days. This is a very easy read that keeps the reader guessing on "who done it".The story is about Valeria Woodville (Macallan) who married a man that she finds out married her under an assumed name. She is bound and determined to find out why which she does depite being asked not to by her husband and his best friend. Once she finds out why her husband married her under an assumed name, (hint - he was accused of the murder of his first wife) - she then decides to prove that her husband is innocent. However, the evidence looks pretty damning that her husband actually did murder his first wife. Here is the point where she meets several different people and the puzzle begins to come together. By the end, I had thought of at least 4 different people that I thought had murdered his first wife.I will not give away the end but it is not too surprising. However, this book was an easy read and an enjoyable read. If you like Wilkie's style of writing, you will like this book. This book is certainly not as good as the Woman in White, The Moonstone or No Name, but it is good nonetheless. There are parts of this book that tend to show the prejudice against women during this time. Many times throughout the book, Valeria is asked what can a woman do that the (male) lawyers did not do during the trial. However, Wilkie gives Valeria the love and determination to find out the truth and she does so. The comments about women did not bother me for I knew this book was written in 1870's and the times were different. If you like Wilkie and have read No Name, Moonstone and Woman in White, this is a good easy read by a good author. I look forward to reading more of his works.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. How Would Orson Welles Scripted It? By propertius Without coming a "spoiler" it is necessary to be rather circumspect about the plot of the and by anticipating the ending or knowing it, the entire plot becomes to obvious in the matter motivations and clues. This mystery is very clearly a book that is infused with Victorian sensibilities and attitudes. This is the biggest problem for the modern reader to overcome and once this has been done it is really a intriguing and engaging mystery which touches upon murder, marriage, identity and the all encompassing question of motive. Think of it as "Jane Eyre" with barristers and police.

This is a work of fiction. [At the least, this is the safest designation.] A continuation of Untitled, expanding beyond that tale in many senses of the word. Further explore both the past and future of the timeline of the cycles, and delve into untapped characters, while introducing new realms of reflective meaning, both emotional and psychological. Be prepared for additions which are similar and expected, yet others which would not likely have been envisioned as connected to the original scenarios.

By Mo ‘Expansion’ by Adam Sawka is the sequel to the psychological mystery novel, ‘Untitled’, delving deeper into the haunting tales of the individuals affected by the supernatural journal ‘READ THIS’.The central story arc (if it can be called that) follows Trent, a young Canadian who had previously been trying to piece together his life after losing an entire year of memories, and picks up where ‘Untitled’ left off. Convinced that ‘READ THIS’ is responsible for his amnesia, Trent soon begins to experience vivid dreams that his beloved idols are being threatened by an evil otherworldly force, and believes that it’s all somehow connected. Meanwhile, ‘Expansion’ also documents extracts from the lives of others who have been damned by the pages of ‘READ THIS’, slowly unravelling the true nature of the book. Written and formatted mainly in the style of journal entries (best represented in the paperback edition), this novel veers from the chilling tone of its predecessor to instead progress the plot through an unusual collection of something akin to character studies and short stories.First of all, it should definitely be noted that without having read ‘Untitled’ – or at least having some background knowledge on it – ‘Expansion’ might not make a great deal of sense to begin with, though this is gradually addressed by the various characters. That said, the author has expanded (pardon the pun) the ‘READ THIS’ universe in an interesting way, calling on new mediums such as dream sequences, song lyrics or interludes through which to tell the tale. While this reflects the way ‘Untitled’ often alternated between Trent’s (and later Damon’s) narration and the strange philosophical content of ‘READ THIS’, ‘Expansion’ is slightly more disjointed at times because it deals with an increased number of characters and mediums that are not always chronological or even related. An element I liked best about this novel was Sawka’s inclusion of these so-called “short stories”, deliberately collated as a series of chapters rather than appearing randomly throughout the book as they might otherwise have done. One of these sub-plots relates to the mysterious events surrounding a trio of Japanese pop stars, while the other is about a young man (possibly during a Mesoamerican era) and how his tribe are forced to deal with terrifying new concepts. The former is a great example of how the author excels at building suspense – drip-feeding the reader details of this unnerving scenario until it reaches a mind-blowing climax – and the latter showcases his skill at twisting these supernatural themes to match a primal perspective. As intriguing as they are, however, minor criticisms I would have are that the connection between the story in Trent’s dreams and the disturbing anomalies he experienced during ‘Untitled’ is not immediately apparent, or that there is no real explanation as to how the “interlude” relates to the wider plot. With regards to the characters themselves, there was less time dedicated to each one than had been spent on Trent and Damon during ‘Untitled’. This, in my opinion, reduced any psychological impact the author might have wished to have upon the reader the way he had so skilfully accomplished in the prequel. Nevertheless, it was interesting to learn more about Trent’s background, particularly how his reflections on his earlier life sets the stage for what he plans to do in the future. In addition, I was pleasantly surprised when Brandon’s arc suddenly changed from total confusion to having the pieces of the puzzle fall into place, though I personally felt that his journal entries in ‘Expansion’ were too erratic and often trivial to the point of tedious. Again, this style paid homage to Trent’s ponderings in the first book, but lacked the dark and unsettling content that previously made it successful. I was also disappointed in William’s entries – few and far between as they were – because they teased at an understanding of ‘READ THIS’ that he and Damon shared, but this wasn’t elaborated on. I can only hope that Sawka’s next title will address this.On that note, I must admit that I was left wanting more answers to the countless questions raised throughout the novel, and was irritated that so many had been seemingly abandoned altogether or dangled like a carrot until the respective stories (Brandon’s in particular) came to an abrupt end. I actually found ‘Expansion’ to be pretty anti-climactic, and believe that this could have been easily solved by rearranging the final few chapters. Conversely, Sawka has repeated the feat of stamping his own mark of intelligence and creativity on his work, with examples now also including the seamless transition from first- to third-person narratives and varying styles of prose, imparting his own knowledge and musings on the reader via the characters, and even a full collection of original song lyrics. To conclude, ‘Expansion’ has enough in the tank as a standalone title to hold readers’ curiosity – especially with the chapters that relate to Trent’s dreams – and is an imaginative continuation of the ‘READ THIS’ saga, but any fans of ‘Untitled’ hoping for more of the same might be disappointed.
