By Marilyn Souza This is an excellent guide book, filled with well-researched and cleverly written suggestions for your travel adventure. The included maps provide detailed information without being overwhelming. The book is divided into Southern Sweden, Central Sweden, and the North, including Lapland. Each section is further divided by cities, making the book very easy to navigate. Each city section provides a great overview, must-see destinations, and then hotel, restaurant, and sight-seeing/tour information. Travel tips are also a part of the book. I recently completed a self-drive tour of central Sweden, and Lonely Planet's book went into much more detail than our trip's planned itinerary and provided us with interesting information on additional places to visit. This came in very handy when our GPS failed us, or if the venue we on our itinerary was closed. Warning: the Swedish summer tourist season is brief, and many places are shut down by early September. I highly recommend Lonely Planet's Sweden--it gave delightful and accurate info to this very novice traveler!

Great fold-out map of Stockholm in the back, along with several regional maps of the rest of Sweden and principle cities. I like that it rates the principle attractions, gives a brief description and locates them on the map. It has an easy-to-use phrase book with phonetic spellings.

Eddie thinks nowhere could be more boring than his hometown of the Wellcome Valley. Unfortunately he is about to be proved spectacularly wrong.

Eddie's problems start with the arrival of Scarlett, who seems rather too confident and mysterious for your average schoolgirl. She attracts trouble, and she's apparently interested in only two very strange things - protecting the town's local crackpot scientist and telling Eddie absolutely nothing about what's going on.

And why is she so interested in Eddie's long-dead mother? Things quickly go from weird to worse for Eddie, as he finds himself right in the middle of a dangerous mystery - one with consequences not just for him and Scarlett, but time itself.

Sympathy Reviews No True Echo By Sympathy Thank you to NetGalley for providing this copy in exchange for an honest review.Full review can be found @ http://clockworkorigin.com/no-true-echo-review/“It’s a picture of regret, it can’t be finished.”No True Echo is an interesting story about echo-jumping (time travel). The whole premise is wonderful and intriguing enough to keep its readers…well… reading. It started off somewhat slow, but not enough that I felt like I couldn’t continue. The characters are greatly thought out, making them believable and providing a personal connection. The little “relationship” (I use quotations for a reason) between Scarlett and Eddie is really adorable… the playful kind of adorable. I love those types of “relationships.”Mr. Jones does a great job with the concept of the story and the switching of perspectives. Each perspective is seemingly smooth when executed and doesn’t take away from the story. Along with that, the book definitely has its moment of humor that left me chuckling to myself... Kalidasa probably lived in the fifth century of the Christian era. This date, approximate as it is, must yet be given with considerable hesitation, and is by no means certain. No truly biographical data are preserved about the author, who nevertheless enjoyed a great popularity during his life, and whom the Hindus have ever regarded as the greatest of Sanskrit poets. We are thus confronted with one of the remarkable problems of literary history.

I recommend this book to anyone who's interested in Indian literature or culture.Kalidasa was a classical Sanskrit writer, he is thought to have lived in the 4th and/or 5th century AD. He has written 2 plays, 2 epic poems and some lyrical poetry. This edition is a translation by Professor of Sanskrit Arthur W. Ryder (1877-1938) of some of the work by Kalidasi and was first published in 1912, the printed book has 218 pages. The contents of this book is:INTRODUCTION: KALIDASA--HIS LIFE AND WRITINGSSHAKUNTALATHE STORY OF SHAKUNTALATHE TWO MINOR DRAMAS-- I. Mark has a big crush on their neighbor Karen. Deb thinks they're having an affair, but meanwhile she is having an affair with Owen, age 18, who is also carrying on with Karen's daughter Elana, who is best friends with Deb's daughter Riley. And that's just the first few chapters.....a combustible situation as it is, add to that the fact that there are a couple of extremely disturbed people involved. Things turn very dark very quickly.I liked the author's style of writing, he's equally good at conveying the thoughts of males and females, adults and teens. His dialogue is authentic and convincing. There are only a few things I'd have changed: we know whodunit pretty early on, so we are just waiting for the denouement. While it is engaging and gripping, there are no twists and turns, no surprises, nothing new revealed at the end. the pace is a bit uneven as well, there's quite a long section about 2/3 in of Karen's indignation when her workmates make assumptions, and then more when the police make assumptions, again when the reporters do, and when her ex-husband does, and when Mark does....whereas the book wraps up in a bit of a hurry, and the exciting climax is pretty short.I have a feeling this is one of those cases where an author is famous enough that not much editorial work is done, and in this case there are some glaring mistakes."His teeth grinded." Pretty sure that isn't even a word."She saw the blinds on the living room window rustle." Pretty sure that is a noise. An invisible one."Her lower teeth tore into her gums...." I'm trying this. I don't think it's possible."She went into the teacher's bathroom, where she lost it, balling hysterically." Ummmm......no.had to laugh because one of the characters is repeatedly described as looking like Javier Bardem...then I got to the author's photo in the back of the book.....and he looks like Javier Bardem.

I knew more or less what I was getting myself into when I picked this up, but I didn’t expect it to be so…bad.I often enjoy books that examine the dark underside of domestic suburban life - Tom Perrotta comes to mind - but this is like if you took a book like that and stripped it of anything intelligent or thought-provoking. Any semblance of attempted satire is obscured by its utter silliness. The characters are one-dimensional cliches whose actions are so delusional and unbelievable that it’s hard to keep reading. In fact, I’m not even sure why I stuck with it. Maybe for the same reason I’ll sometimes get sucked into watching a Lifetime movie. It’s a fast, easy read, so it’s hard to feel too resentful toward it, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

I would not recommend anyone buys this By sherril the writing was dreadful, the story unbelievable and predictable and it was full of incongruencies - it is one of the few books I have not finished reading. By Dalai Momma I don't typically read feel-good sentimental romance stuff but I figured that since the holidays were here and the weather was getting colder I wanted to try something a little different from what I usually aim for...The Gift of a Charm seemed pretty amazing and so I went for it.A feel-good story, the main character Holly working in a fabulous vintage clothing store in New York, comes upon a charm bracelet hidden in an old coat. Feeling impelled to seek out the owner she is on a mission. Then there's Greg on a mission of his own...leaving the corporate world in order to follow his passion of photography. True to romance stories, we get a lovely little connection between Holly and Greg and that's the end of that story...only that's so not true!! There are little twists and turns throughout..a lovely unique read.Again, I don't typically read romance tales but the ones I have read I liked and this book goes right along into that grouping. Just in time for the holidays...it's warm..entertaining..lovely, a light read. I enjoyed it.Thanks to Melissa Hill for making it possible for me to win via giveaway this book in exchange for an honest review.

By Arlena Title: The Gift of a CharmAuthor: Melissa HillPublisher: St Martin's GriffinReviewed By: Arlena DeanRating: 5Review:"The Gift of a Charm" by Melissa HillMy Thoughts....This was a beautifully told story of 'Christmas love to restore your faith in miracles.' I liked how this author was able to present us a story that started with a 'charm bracelet' being found at 'The Secret Closet' [resale shop] and with Holly's desire to return it to its rightful owner. Why did this charm bracelet mean so much to Holly? Who was this 'mysterious benefactor' who has been sending Holly these charms? The characterization of each one in the novel were all well developed, defined, well portrayed and believable and with this happening around the holiday season was the perfect setting. This novel will be about two stories...one dealing with Holly and her son and the other being about Greg and his family. I will say it was quite a journey as Holly goes on these hunts trying to find the rightful owner of this charm bracelet. Now, how this all comes out will be a quite interesting read where you will have to pick up this good read to see how well this story is presented. If you are looking for a good holiday read or maybe a good read at anytime, I would recommend 'The Gift of Charm' to you.I received a copy through NOR in exchange for an honest review.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. I mostly enjoyed it By Justin and Katie Schauer I received a copy of this book through the Goodreads First Reads giveaway program in the hopes that I would leave an honest review.I was really excited when I saw this book in the mail at the beginning of December, because December inspires me to indulge in cheese Christmas romances in both book and movie form. Unfortunately, that's not what this book is, so I found myself somewhat disappointed in the end.In spite of my disappointment over not getting a cheesy Christmas romance, I mostly enjoyed the story. The search for the owner of the charm bracelet was fun and intriguing, and I loved how some of the owners charm memories were woven into the story too.My biggest issue with the book is that I kept tripping over the British English. Don't get me wrong, when I read a book set in the UK or Australia, I fully expect to see gads of superfluous u's. When I read a book set in NYC, I expect all the spellings to be familiar. Also, what the heck are fairy lights? I think the book was probably originally published in the UK before the US, but I really feel like it should have been translated to American since it's set in the U.S.Overall I give it 4 out of 5 stars because I did enjoy the story and adventure, but it left me slightly disappointed, and the British spellings tripped me up.Reviewed on Just Another Girl and Her Books blog

The information was completely false and misleading. For instance, in Santiago, the book gives the Museum de Artes Visuales a star, (shows a film made about the Titanic that your kids would have made in middle school, complete with a cardboard ax and plastic water, plus virtually void of exhibits and patrons), and then gives no star to the Museo Chileno de Arte Precolombino, no star,,,,what? The Pre-Colombian museum is one of the finest I have ever seen in South or Latin America, small but all the pieces are gems, the presentation first class. The Mercado central, no star given, tell you to eat across the street because it is cheaper? Too bad all the locals paid the difference and ate inside the market like any smart person would, the stuff across the street was all limited and fried. Also, the Museo Colonial de San Francisco with the 54 tableaux of St. Francis, unique in the World, let alone the Americas, no star. My "lodge" on Easter Island, a disaster, absolutely no interaction with the "local" owner, as was implied in the review.. No shampoo, no hot water???? no internet in the rooms. It goes on and on. I will absolutely never buy any guide from this company again., Usually I buy the Michelin guides, but could not get one for Chile from the US. Any other guide would be better. Also for Argentina, though I did not buy their guide, there was a copy in the apartment and it called the Cabrela restaurant in Palermo Soho "touristy", and gimmicky. The Michelin called it what it is, one of the 50 best restaurants in the World!
