They say poetry is dead...but Té By Arin M Lawrence One of my favorite lines (among so many to choose from) is this: "she lay in living peaces, in my heart; only i know her to be wholly and acceptable in thy sight."Té twists words into redemptive phrases that become poetry. Please do yourself and your soul (both the pain-stricken parts and the rejoicing ones) a favor and buy this book. Support living art + artists before they are no more.

A collection of poetry and prose that is written in a rich, sumptuous, evocative style and tackling many of the BIG SUBJECTS: love, loss, healing, God, loneliness, race, human connection and emotions, and family. Mr Smith writes in a style that keeps a foot in both the literary and the colloquial, weaving them together in short passages that are absolutely gorgeous to read and contain the most piercing kind of truth. It's one of those works of art that just hit you in the gut, send a shot though your heart and overwhelms you with compassion. This is the human experience! Don't hesitate to buy this book. It's the kind that you will reread, dog ear and underline and come back to in times of struggle for understanding and, ultimately, hope.

I can't stop reading it. I can't stop telling people about it. I can't stop giving it to friends. This collection of poetry and prose is gorgeous uncovering... a thing of jaw-dropping beauty, awareness, and confession. After each few passages, I find myself stopping to drink in their power. Occasionally, I swoon. I've been stunned by the familiarity of feeling wrapped in fresh words. Here We Are hits the heart with the intensity of that proverbial freight train. The second my eyes fell on the words "One day I will laugh and no loneliness will fall out", they filled with tears. Immediate visceral response. It's a true gift to be able to say, for the world, what it struggles to voice. Smith is gifted. So are we for having him here.
