There is a depth to the words that speak essential truths and relate experiences that we all share. There are no gimmicks or pretentiousness here - only honest attempts to convey the complexities of relationships, love, desire, passion, disappointment, and the journey through it all. An up-and-coming poet that may not be well known yet, but keep an eye on this one.

About the Author Thucydides (c. 460 BC400 BC) was a general who was exiled for his failure to defend the Greek city of Amphipolis in Thrace. During his exile, he began compiling histories and accounts of the war from various participants.Rex Warner was a Professor of the University of Connecticut from 1964 until his retirement in He was born in 1905 and went to Wadham College, Oxford, where he gained a first in Classical Moderations, and took a degree in English Literature. He taught in Egypt and England, and was Director of the British Institute, Athens, from 1945 to 1947. He has written poems, novels and critical essays, has worked on films and broadcasting, and has translated many works, of which Xenophon s History of My Time and The Persian Expedition, Thucydides The Peloponnesian War, and Plutarch s Lives (under the title Fall of the Roman Republic) and Moral Essays have been published in Penguin Classics.M. As part of our job we were always encouraged to study history to see how people thought and wars were executed. No war is ever the same so what we are reading to learn is the why. There is also how people responded to different tactics and strategies.I found this easy to read as the translation made it appear like we were reading today's news. Not just the actins but the politics of the time. There are great descriptions of the time and place. The only thing that is missing is visual maps to put the places in perspective. Luckily you can get maps of the time off the net as a supplement.I have a paperback edition which is easily navigated and you can place sticky notes in. I also have a kindle version which you can put book marks in. the problem with the kindle is the text-to-speech has a horrible time translating place and people names. The advantage of the kindle is it moves you forward so you do not doddle. I am contemplating a hard copy for the library and reverence.There is enough detail that it may require a second reading after you have digested the first. I am also looking for some good books to tell me what I would have noticed in this book.

Booth I received the book as I had heard about it and it was an Enid local who put it together, but I found the book to be something I did not expect. It seemed to me to be people who chose to be victims of life's hardships and I found little about it that was uplifting or even interesting. It may be some peoples cup of tea but was just not for me. I did receive it in good condition and thank you as always for getting it to me quickly and with very little effort on my part. Thank you Judith Booth

I read the horrors that the different ones endured and I am amazed at the resilience of some By Brenda Salladay While reading this book I could feel the raw emotions of pain, grief, loss, depression and anger. I read the horrors that the different ones endured and I am amazed at the resilience of some, the just getting through the day by others and then the forgiveness that was shown. I could see that healing came through each peeled back layer, as the nightmare of their ordeals were written and shared. The Lemonade Ladies sound like a group that are well on their way to letting go of their pain and ready to show others the process of peeling back the layers!

Even though we are in our 60's we can do things 40 year olds can do and we do like to bring the grandkids and their parents on some of our adventures.Monthly calendar will come in handy when you need just one more thing to do that will connect you to the area as it will be in season.Such facts about the next thing to do, the park and facts tell you it's even bigger than it's counterpart East coast-Central Park. So many things to do there and love that it also gives you the location, street wise and fees for entrance.And some things also show a colorful photo along with giving the photographer credit. Such a wealth of knowledge to have even when you do visit, to be sure to check out gift shops, other events planned, etc.I wonder how many days it will take us to complete seeing the whole book of places one must go see. Besides being outdoors, walking, photographing fun spots, hands-on, nature, new things we like lighthouses and this book has them also!Even a section for those to let their hair loose and walk on the wild side. Other freebies and features are also available and the other works by the author are highlighted at the end.Something for everybody at any age. Enjoyed this book and hope other cities will have their own travel guide by this author. I've compared the content to some other series my friend loaned me and I think this is at least as good. I like that it tends to offer just top 15 or 20 because I feel like that makes deciding and planning easier than if I have a full catalog of everything to do in a given country.
