Must have activity guide for parents By Jane Smith As a former teacher and a Mom I was impressed with “Kidding Around Town, Cool places to Grow Smart Brains”. The book is far more than a guide to places to entertain your child in the Dallas Forth Worth area. The underlying premise is that activities with your child can be both entertaining and educational. This book is a guide to understand how to choose and plan activities that will enrich your child’s life, stimulate their intellect and create lasting memories of the interaction. Each venue’s entry is complete with directions including phone and website, tips and developmentally based suggestions on how to enjoy the experience. The cartoon hints on visual and verbal clues to knowing when it’s time to go home are priceless. Catherine hits the right note blending informative, educational and the practical into a must have guidebook to planning and enjoying outings with children. Ms. Cates’ guide is an excellent complement and extension to the timely listing of activities on her website, AroundTownKids.com. It’s well worth the investment to buy either the Kindle or paper version to have as a reference. Congratulations for a well thought out guide that is appropriate for parents of children of all ages.

Bates It's been a while since my children were little, and now I have two great-nephews (ages 2 and 3). In today's world, even at their young age, they are getting addicted to electronics; so I love getting them out to explore the world. "Kidding Around Town: Cool Places to Grow Smart Brains" has been an amazing resource when it comes to finding fun activities to do with them. This past weekend, we visited the Mesquite Rodeo and The Children's Aquarium at Fair Park. I haven't been to either in years and was reminded of them when looking through my book. Before each activity, I quickly read over the Age Appropriate Activities for Twos and Threes section. The book has such great ideas of how to make every event a fun and educational experience. My nephews loved touching the sting rays and seeing the albino alligator at the aquarium, and thought the calves and horses at the rodeo were the coolest things ever! They have seen them all on TV; ;but the expression on their faces when seeing and touching them in real life was priceless! Thank you Catherine Cates for providing such an awesome tool for DFW families to use!!!
