If you are reading this then it is already too late. You've been drawn in to a world filled with things you can't escape. Darkness, evil, treachery and betrayals of the worst kind lie within these pages. I'd tell you to put the book down. Run while you are still safe, your mind unscathed, your world unshattered, but it would be futile. You want to know what happens, the depths of depravity and destruction in which one mans world could hold. Just what exactly happened to him? I know you want to find out. If I were you the intrigue would suck me in to, but know this--there is no turning back. Once the shadows inside these pages consume you, well even I dare not say. If there is even one ounce of willpower in you consider for a second not taking this journey, don't swim in the black cave that is my mind don't... I'm wasting my time. Now I know you feel you must enter. It would be a crime not to. But if you do, remember I did warn you, but you didn't listen.

Has potential, but doesn't reach it By Samantha Dunaway Bryant In the tradition of Flowers in the Attic, Virgil is an exploration of the ways that extreme abuse can change a person. It's also the story of how to come back from that. I can't tell you more about how the characters come back without spoiling the plot, but it's interesting.Virgil is a book with a lot of potential, but is still in need of development to be a fully rendered novel. There are some harrowing and beautiful scenes, but it's uneven in quality and it doesn't hold together well structurally. There is too much repetition and angst-ridden waiting about and not taking action. Throughout the whole book, I was waiting for someone to take action, to intervene. No one did, and their reasons for not acting didn't play well for me.I also didn't understand the villains. Very little was offered in terms of motivation for their evil acts, and what little there was did not convince me. Even given that the villains don't have a perspective scene, I would expect the victims to have come to their own understanding of what they thought was happening. That said, there is some fine writing, some beautiful and poetic lines and as I said earlier, the abuse is harrowing to read. Some of the dialogue is perfect. There's the potential for an excellent book in these pages.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Compelling and deeply emotional By Selah Virgil is a deeply emotional story told from an interesting and unexpected point of view. Please be warned: there is a lot of explicit, and in some cases disturbing sexual content. Definitely a potential trigger for survivors, and unsettling even for those who aren’t.The effects of years of sexual abuse of two boys is portrayed in a realistic, compelling manner. The characters Ezekiel and Nathaniel as well as the title character come to life on the page, and even the bit characters, like Hector, shine. The plot is solid and keeps you turning the page! Once the author got me empathizing with the characters, I had to keep reading to find out what happened. Every time I started to lose hope for the main characters the author added a new twist and ratcheted up the tension. My one complaint is that we don’t find out a lot about the background and motives of the parents themselves. The message seems to be that the parents are simply pure evil, and I have a hard time accepting that this extreme abuse would come out of nowhere. I’m curious to know what happened in the lives of the parents to drive them to these extremes. But not knowing certainly didn’t ruin the story for me.Compelling and emotional, this story might not end up widely read due to the graphic content but if you can stomach the intensity, it is well worth the read!

At times it was hard to read, due to the graphic nature of the plot.Still, these same elements made it hard to put the book down. I found myself immersed in the story, feelings ranging for every character, villains I deplored, innocent heroes I couldn't help but cheer on.As I said the narrative is very descriptive, beautifully written, yet lacking a certain je ne sais quoi.Over all the story was compelling, and worth the read.

Weston has a real grasp and love for Japanese poetry that shows from the very beginning. So many to choose from I fond myself returning to these again and again. The book is also accompanied by some beautiful photographs taken by the author that bring certain poems to life.Whats more is that the profits made by the author himself are all going to charity. What greater cause is there to purchase this beautiful little book? Another fantastic read by Phen Weston.

183 of 208 people found the following review helpful. Gratuitous Violence By Emily Oh dear. I'm clearly in the minority, but I just didn't enjoy Raze and Kisa's story. I'm not a fan of the tortured heroine but I love the tortured hero. Since Raze sounded like such a passionate, tormented guy, I decided to take a chance on Cole's book. I appreciated Raze the hero, but the book didn't work for me. Here are the reasons why.The over-the-top, ugly sex scenes between Kisa and her abusive fiance. Again and again we see the psychotic fiance rape and humiliate her. He's so violent he even makes her bleed. And this is BEFORE the real "punishment" smex. Kisa endures this abuse because...well, I'm not sure why. Because she feels sorry for the guy? He's totes crazy, she's the only one who calms him down, and so she sticks around. If so, I have trouble sympathizing with a heroine who allows herself to be abused because she pities her abuser. Perhaps she stays because she's afraid of this nut, but that argument doesn't quite make sense to me either. After all, Kisa's father is a BAMF, one of the leaders of the Russian mob. Her father cares for her and has power over the fiance. Kisa acknowledges that her dad would not allow her to be treated this way if he knew what was going on. So why doesn't she go to him for help? I dunno. Her bodyguard knows what the fiance is like, so why doesn't he report to his boss? Again, I can't figure it. It's one thing if she's in an inescapable violent situation, but Kisa seems to have options.Kisa also complains about being expected to be the perfect little woman, etc. but apparently the "little woman" runs an international fight club. For me, the supposed constraints on her life didn't jive with her role as fight club manager.Okay, what about Kisa's connection to Raze? Well, that attraction is pretty much instantaneous. Like, desire immediately starts to "pool" in her panties when she spots him working out at the gym. After enduring all of this painful, violent sex with her crazy fiance, Kisa quickly engages in rough sex with Raze. This encounter happens the third time they're alone together, and their previous two meetings probably totaled about 30 minutes. Given that poor Kisa's been sexually traumatized for years, how the heck is she emotionally or physically ready for this kind of intimacy? Even with her long-lost love. I mean, ow.I usually like dark romantica, but for me, the sexual violence in Raze was gratuitous, given that Kisa had some obvious ways to escape the cycle. Those are my thoughts. Now I shall prepare to be down voted.

If you've read her Hades Hangmen MC books you'll know Tillie can write some of the best captivating and deviant tales around. This is a dark and twisted romance that takes you on a gripping, gritty and unforgiving ride of emotions: revenge, hate, love and hope all play their part.Raze is basically a slave. Taken and held as a young boy for a crime he did not commit. He is tortured and abused daily. He must fight to the death every time he enters the ring of death. If he loses, it will be because he is dead. Imprisoned in 'hell' Raze is determined to not die and vows to seek revenge on the one who has wronged him: he has it engrained on his cell wall, so he never ever forgets who put him there. His tale is one to crush most people's spirit and render them emotionless but not Raze, he's changed but you feel with every ounce of your being he isn't a monster. He's surviving the only way he knows how to: by killing instead if being killed. You will want to seek retribution for Raze too, you will empathise with this killer!!Kisa is New York's Russian Bratva infamous 'Triad' boss' daughter. One picture perfect Mafia princess at first glance. But looks can be deceiving; Kisa is a prisoner too just like Raze. Her confines are due to an over protective father and and even more overbearing, mentally unstable fiancé Alik. Alik is the son to one of the bosses. He is also a psychotic sociopath whose obsessed with Kisa. They have been friends since childhood. She's scared of him but follows her families expectations of being dutiful. However, there is a small, little, tiny part of her that loves Alik. She has known him her whole life and she keeps thinking she can save him. Some scenes between Kisa and Alik are uncomfortable and you truly want to cause him physical pain for how he behaves, but karma does come!!Her life changes one night when she runs into trouble in an alley while working for the church: the only place she can truly be herself without the ever present Mafia and Alik watching and monitoring her. She's rescued by a tattooed, muscled and scarred man. She instantly feels a connection with him and needs to know more about him. Kisa soon discovers he is the replacement fighter at The Dungeon where Alik also fights. Even in that place of death, knowing he's a killer does not repulse her away from him: their drawn to each other inexplicably. This love story is not conventional, traditional or sweet. It's heartbreaking, tough reading and at times very very dark. but I can assure you of an emotional read that will stay with you for days afterwards.... It's a tale of believing in yourself that one day you will get what your heart desires if you fight hard enough.*** reviewed on behalf of Obsessed by Books ***

Tillie's writing is superb, weaving this heartbreaking story like a master. I literally could not put this book down. The darkness and brutality in this story makes your stomach clench and knot up, but the underlying love story between the two main characters, Kisa and Raze, will make your heart clench just as much, but in a good way.The way that Tillie lays this story out truly transports the reader into the here and now of the story. I felt I was living each moment with Kisa and Raze. Every emotion they had I felt deep inside. I ran the gamut of every emotion you can imagine. I cried with Kisa, I felt fear and confusion with Raze, I felt debilitating hatred for several characters/circumstances in the story. I also felt hope, and happiness, and lust and passion. Holy moly, Tillie can write sex!! I was fanning myself something serious on some pretty hot scenes going on between Kisa and Raze! This is not a light hearted read, that is for sure. There were parts of this story that were very hard for me to stomach. But the love story between Kisa and Raze was written so beautifully by Tillie that I would readily read all the ugly again just to get to read the beauty again. These two people were born to be together and how Tillie writes their story and describes their love is absolute perfection."Open your eyes," I whispered, but Raze shook his head, his forehead wrinkling in concentration. My eyebrows furrowed in confusion, a twinge of insecurity rippling through me, until Raze gasped and said, "I'm closing my eyes so I can feel being inside you." He placed his hand over his heart and rasped out, "I've seen too many bad things with these eyes. This, I will feel in my heart." Be still my heart! This is the third book I've read of Tillie's. I loved the first two books and I loved this book just as much. Absolutely recommend this book to everyone. It may be hard for some people to read the darkness and brutality but for me, the love and beauty we get to experience between Kisa and Raze healed the hurt in my heart!

Along the Way - Book Two - Welcome to the Glacier Express!, by Teresa Schapansky

About the Author As a child, author Teresa Schapansky spent days on end reading fantasy and fairy tale stories. Back then, she never dreamt she'd actually write one. Her inspiration came much later in the form of her daughters, whom she names as co-conspirators in the writing of her first two novels. Her first novel, "Imogene of the Pacific Kingdom" opened a few doors for the author. Radio and television interviews, school visits, library visits, a stint freelance reporting for a local newspaper, until the author's second book, "Dager of the Tasman Empire" found its way to the surface. The author has since joined forces with Bob Winterford, Eye Wonder Studios Publishing Inc. and together, they have created the 12 book "Along the Way" series for younger children.

Where the lakes began By Grady Harp Canadian author Teresa Schapansky enters the world of children’s books with a very thoughtful and entertaining series entitled ALONG THE WAY. Thus far there are five books with hopefully more to come. The illustrations are by Ken Golden. Teresa is a sharp journalist and a popular speaker in schools and other gatherings and her early love for stories lead to books before she finally decided to write this series. As an introduction to the entire series Teresa states,’ In our books you’ll find short stories, and you’ll meet ordinary, everyday children who face ordinary, everyday problems; read along as our new friends learn how to best solve such problems. We’ll go on make believe road trips and come across some pretty amazing facts that deal with different cultures, exciting history, geography, horticulture, science, and more. Most importantly, ALONG THE WAY books are dedicated to encouraging children to broaden their horizons – be all they can be – al the while, sharpening reading skills which are in fact, necessary, as they embark on this fantastic path to lifelong learning.’In Book 2 Teresa begins where Book 1 ended - with a further examination of the history of dinosaurs – Tyrannosaurus rex – their habits and their findings in western Canada dating back to the Mesozoic Era. There is a lot of fine information about prehistoric times and reptiles in general, but the our old friend Albert begins his discussion or road trip about the lakes in Canada and how they were formed from the ice age - a very interesting way to take a trip to the Columbia Icefield and where that water moves as it melts. We learn about glaciers and the various breaking up of the Ice Age into the Permian, Jurassic, Cretaceous, and present day periods. Then Albert introduces his friends Kilee and Michael who are about to move to a farm and though the kids know they’ll miss their friends they also know that great things are in store for them. And the trip to their new home they play games in the truck - like word games starting with license palates on passing cars – a great diversion and distraction for the emotional move to a new home. Their new home was a rundown farm and their mother shares that they will need to apply elbow grease to fix it up! Together the family works to cleanup and repair the farm – and in doing so the kids divided the things into pile of junk and piles of treasures (old antique items of interest). And in working together in a family way they soon turned their farm into a perfect home. The Along the say tip then moves on to Edmonton to the Edmonton Valley Zoo and the Janzen Nature Center where all manner of questions about nature can find answers. More history lessons about Edmonton and Mundare and Vegreville – home of a very big egg! More Dino Trivia and we’ve finished our newest Along the Way. Another great adventure of learning in all manner of ways. Grady Harp, June 15

He has problems with his wife and has lost his job because of an unfortunate incident. His student years are far behind him, but they come to the surface again when he receives a letter from his old friend Christie. She now lives in Canada and has a successful career. They used to be a group of four, but Cameron hasn't seen his university friends in twenty-five years. He was the quiet shy one in the group. Christie used to be outgoing and she was really pretty. Tommo was the rock star who could get away with everything and Bex was the cute activist. Bex is the love of Cameron's life, but she's with Tommo and Cameron never stood a chance. Will Cameron be ready to see them again? They didn't part on good terms, something tragic happened and that messed up their friendship forever. Can he let go of the past or does the reappearance of his old friends make his present even more difficult than it already is?Bright Stars is a beautiful story about a shy student who doesn't feel at ease with anyone. Cameron is smart, but he's awkward. He loves Bex very much, but when Tommo makes his move he can't do anything against it. I was really curious to find out what happened between the four students. Sophie Duffy tells her story in such an impressive way. She gives the reader tiny pieces of information in every chapter. She slowly builds the suspense which I loved. Bright Stars isn't fast-paced, it's a fabulous present you get to unwrap bit by bit until something stunning appears. It broke my heart to read what actually happened. It brought tears to my eyes. The story is really good and the finale is both shocking and surprising, I couldn't believe what I was reading.Bright Stars is one of those brilliant novels that will stay with you for a very long time. I keep thinking about the story and can't get it out of my head. I instantly loved Cameron. He isn't perfect, but he's very real. I felt protective of him and was hoping someone would rescue him, but instead he has to learn to survive on his own, which sometimes is terrifying to witness. I loved how close I could get to him, how Sophie Duffy gives her readers the chance to see into his soul. She is such a great writer, I really enjoyed her elegant style. Bright Stars is impressive, it's fascinating, it's moving, gripping and absolutely fantastic.

Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom. - Thomas Jefferson By Cheryl Stout Cameron Sparks is from Edinburgh, Scotland and is the narrator/protagonist of this story. In earlier times he was rather dweebish/nerdish so it is surprising (to him) that when he goes away to Lancaster University in England, he makes three cool friends - Ptolemy aka Tommo, a hopeful rock star; Bex, an activist that Cameron falls into unrequited love with; and Christie, coming from a rich Canadian wine family. Then a terrible accident happens and time shifts 25 years into the future in the story. And for the first time since the accident, the four are getting together again.Characterization was excellent in this story. I didn't particularly care for any of the characters, even Cameron, and he was the most sympathetic character of the four. But I was drawn into the tale, wanting to know what happened next. And I was able to visualize each of the characters easily with the in-depth descriptions given by author Duffy. The pacing of the story was well done, shifting back and forth between the 1980s and current day events.Mystery, romance, drama, humor - all packed in a well written story about friendship, honesty, mistakes, and ghosts from the past.NOTE: I received this book from Legend Press through Net Galley in exchange for my honest review.

By Samantha Bilodeau Around 25% or so, I was feeling like it was taking me a long time to get through this, but the first 15% of it had me intrigued and around 35% it really started to pick back up. By 60%, I was really interested to see how everything turned out. The characters are interesting and the slow unveiling of everything had me impatiently devouring the book. :) The only thing that I can say is a bit odd to me are all the footnotes. I would prefer a section in parenthesis, personally. (Though I appreciate the tongue-in-cheek at the back about the footnotes).All-in-all, this book was a bit less dramatic than I expected, though that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. The secret was an interesting one, but I thought it would be something that would come back to haunt (ha) the characters more. This was a lighter read than expected, with a good amount of 'heavy' thrown in to balance it out.Something to note: This is definitely not a book for those who have a problem with slang, as there is quite a lot of Scottish (and British) slang used. I'm American, but am very comfortable with colloquialisms, so I mostly enjoyed picking up a few more. I did use the Kindle's ability to look up words several times throughout, to be sure I understood.* I received an ARC of this book through Netgalley in exchange for an unbiased, honest review.

''Insightful'', ''beautiful'' and ''wonderful'' have been used to describe Encounter on Goodreads.com and Amazon.co.uk Encounter is a collection of poems written mostly in free verse but with some traditional poetic forms included. The poems are divided into three themes - love, nature and life, but of course, themes overlap. Linda has experienced all sides of love - the joy it brings, the pain when it goes wrong, unrequited and learning to move on. Her aim is to show that it really is possible to overcome heartbreak and start again with hope and confidence. She is constantly inspired by nature and she invites you to share with her the thrill of a new spring, mercurial summer, the glorious colours of autumn and the frozen wonders of winter.

By PHILIP DODD Encounter by Linda Dobinson is a fine collection of poems, I think. I appreciated the verses for their clarity and directness. There is a freshness and innocence about them, which I liked. Spring, summer, autumn, winter, the four seasons are mused upon and celebrated in the light, flowing lines. There are poems of lost love, but with no self pity, no plunge into despair. Unlike many modern poems, the poems in the collection never seem too clever for their own good, written in a secret code. Like the works of naïve painters, the poems are refreshingly direct. In them there are memorable lines, like in one called I Want To Write, when the author writes of yearning to go out:"But not to run through the grassOr watch the bees harassThe flowers dancing in the breeze." What remained in my mind after reading Encounter is that it is written by one with a positive response to life, a healthy pleasure in nature and the changing seasons. It is a good book, one that can comfort, cheer and inspire.

It had me wishing for summer and usually I hate summer so that's rare on it's own. The poems of love are what stuck with me the most. I found myself trying to memorize some so I could keep them forever. This book is a very short read. So if you are wanting to get into poetry but aren't sure, then get this book. If you don't like it, then no harm done but if you decide you like poetry than you have a wonderful little book that gives you a great start.I'm so glad that I was able to read this book, so worth it. I had it read in less than an hour and found myself going back to read my favorites right after. It's just flows so perfectly. The author such has an amazing way with words. Give this one a try, you won't regret it!*I was given this book in exchange for an honest review*

This author is full of life with her words. The poems flowed nicely and was a fresh take on life and the world we know. The writing was enjoyable and easy to relate to. The most impressive part of her writing, in my opinion, is her obvious love for nature. Very good read.

Tripping On Oregon's Treasures: One Woman's Van-Camping Trips Amid Oregon's Scenic Wonders (Tripping On a Shoestring) (Volume 2), by Vernelle J Judy

About the Author The valley I was raised in is located in the Umpqua watershed of the Coast Range in Oregon. The ground is so fertile if you plant a garden you will need to run or it will swallow you! Along with that, game was so abundant we actually had two fawns live with us when I was a child. My family took two trips to town each year to purchase staples like flour, sugar and coffee. The valley was home to numerous Myrtle trees. I can still smell the 'Vicks' fragrance as the sun warmed their evergreen leaves. In spring the aromatic pennyroyal was so prolific the whole valley rang out its presents. Since our school was small--about twenty children--we all played together. If we wanted a game of baseball work-up it took the whole student body! My childhood home was heated with wood stoves, one in the living room and one in the kitchen for cooking. At night we had kerosene lanterns to stave off the darkness but we usually went to bed when darkness fell. My mother canned all summer and into the autumn. Neighbors had dairy cows that supplied our milk. Free-range chickens had the run of our yard and paid us daily with eggs as well as the wonderful clucking sounds they made as they went about scratching here and there while keeping track of their little chicks. Family outings centered around work. At the time, I didn't know it was work. I thought a day at the berry patch or an evening in the hills gathering a trailer load of firewood was great fun. After all, Mom and Dad, my sister and brother and I were all there working together. It felt like the best time a person could have. Maybe that's why I enjoy work to this day. I come by my ability to put this book and my first book, "Tripping On a Shoestring" together due to my family history as much as by any life experiences I've had after reaching adulthood. Those early lessons are the foundation of my life.

We (my husband and I) found new places to hike that were pure delight. I'm excited to try other ones mentioned as well. Directions are clear and the scenery spectacular. I will definitely buy more of Vernelle J. Judy's books about the PNW.

I love this book By Pau White I love this book, the way the writer primarily rejects the use of metonymy, and reluctantly substitute idiom for emotional honesty. The poetic tones are not prescriptive or generic, but more a qualifying epitome that symbolizes true subjective analysis.I am truly at awe.

Is this another collection of stupid poems that children cannot use? Will they look hopelessly through this volume for poems that suit them? Will they say despairingly, "This is too long," and "That is too hard," and "I don't like that because it is not interesting"? Are there three or four pleasing poems and are all the rest put in to fill up the book? Nay, verily! The poems in this collection are those that children love. With the exception of seven, they are short enough for children to commit to memory without wearying themselves or losing interest in the poem.

Excellent Selection, Despite Poor Kindle Format By Chief Wiggum I agree with the negative review for Kindle version of this book: the formatting is nonexistent, and in some spots it is even difficult to discern where the editor's comments end and the poem begins. However, the poems chosen are excellent, and the introductions are usually insightful, or at least interesting. I would still recommend this to Kindle users; one can still easily search for a poet or a line. And I enthusiastically recommend the book version.

A book to read aloud to your children By Amazon Customer I have owned this book (in the 1908 printing) for many years and still love to read the poems in it. It's too bad, from what the previous reviewer says, if there is no table of contents in the kindle version. My edition has both a table of contents and an index by first lines (in the back). I don't own the exact edition shown here and don't know if the publisher made changes to the book when they reprinted it or if the kindle version is different.

Best Ebook Target Practice: a guidebook of 100 poems for your inner journey, by Pete Armstrong

We are all on an inner journey. The poems in Target Practice are travellers’ tales from an inner journey. They contain insights, tips on how to travel safely, and on dangers to avoid. These poems tell of the experiences and insights of exploration, both inner and outer. They emerge in and through meditation, and the clarity that can come as part of that. Some are like jokes, and should make you laugh, or at least smile. Target practice is like a guidebook for your journey into your unknown future. So, as with any guidebook, dip in and out. Enjoy what resonates with you, and ignore the rest. Then take your courage in your hands and step out on the next stage of your journey. You have to do it in your way, not someone else’s way. Only you can actually take the next real live step. What will it be? Whatever it is –do it!

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Wonderful inspiration for the modern psycho-spiritual seeker By Quercus What I love about these poems is how they fold spiritual and psychological exploration into the everyday. I am not a church goer; and sometimes I envy those who have a clear location, indeed a sacred, beautiful location where they can engage in their spiritual life. But these poems of Pete Armstrong make it clear that all you have to do is get your mind to the right place, and then every place, every and any event can be a beautiful location for exploring your inner path, the spiritual path. As the poem “A Bardsey monk” testifies: “…you do not need to come to Bardsey to live this life. / There are many currents swirling through life / to take you beyond the ordinary.” This is so exciting. These poems show how, in the modern world, you don’t have to be a Christian, or a Buddhist, or an *anything* to engage fully in spiritual exploration. You simply need the desire; the resources you need are to hand, including these great poems. The other thing I love about these poems is how the dark and the light appear hand in hand, beautifully woven. The poems lovingly and humorously show how living a ‘spiritual’ light does not mean ‘banishing’ our ‘shadow’ parts, our farts, our hates, the bile and faeces of our inner digestion. Quite the reverse. Armstrong embraces all of his humanity, and invites us to do the same. These poems are a great inspiration, a great invitation, to leading a love-filled, creative, full-colour life.

Excerpt from Poems of William Blake"All beauty," says Walt Whitman, "comes from beautiful blood and a beautiful brain." The note of mechanical work is that it has no individuality; the note of a work of art is that it is full of it; so, in measuring its beauty, we are measuring some beauty of temperament in the individuality that is behind it; and it is by understanding this temperament alone that we gain understanding of beauty, or appreciate the working of that fictional element which must separate things of art from things of history. Therefore, when we come to the study of a man's work, who has done things which seem to us beautiful, we must be sure that we understand the temperament which was the cause of his art. Especially must we do so when, as in the case of William Blake, there is so much in the beauty of his art that is strange and difficult to comprehend, something, too, less easy to name beauty, which seems to obscure instead of reveal the value of his personality.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Poems of William Blake (Classic Reprint), by William Blake

About the Author William Blake was an English poet, artist and illustrator. Born in London in 1757, Blake had a strongly religious upbringing and was encouraged to read and study the Bible by his devout Christian mother. In his youth, he earned an apprenticeship as an engraver, and he made a living throughout his life carving woodblock illustrations for the printing press. Blake published his first book of poetry, Poetical Sketches circa 1783, and soon fell in with some of the most famous artists and intellectuals of the time, including Joseph Priestly, Mary Wollstonecraft and Thomas Paine. Throughout his life, Blake wrote and illustrated many books of poetry, despite the fact that his works, often considered too radical or irreligious, went largely unrecognized during his lifetime. Now Blake s books of poetry and illustrations, including Songs of Innocence and Experience and Jerusalem, are considered some of the seminal texts of the Romantics movement. Blake died in 1827, and is buried in an unmarked grave in the Dissenter s graveyard in Bunhill Fields.

Text is poorly formated; the line breaks are all screwed up. Blake is something you really really need to see on a page so do yourself a favor and buy a physical copy...ideally with the beautiful etchings which Blake melded with the text.

19 of 19 people found the following review helpful. poems and pages differ from the 2006 version By Peregrine Reader Auguries of Innocence "to see the world in a grain of sand" is missing in the edition which I could see online - I bought it as a gift and my friend told me that the pages numbers do not match the description and the index of first lines - which puts the poem on a page that is not there. There are fewer pages than described

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Difficult to navigate. Really bad formatting. By Aaron Wooldridge I am not much of a poetry fan but have always loved the writings of William Blake. Here is a free version of some of his works. It is readable, and the fact that it is free prevents me from complaining too much. The formatting is terrible. There is no table of contents. There are no hyperlinks. These problems make it difficult to know what exactly is in the book, and it makes it hard to find what you are looking for. As far as I can tell this collection contains the entirety of Songs of Innocence and Experience and a few other poems. Also there are few line breaks. An 8 line stanza is often seen as a single paragraph with semicolons separating the original lines. With any other poet this would make the book unreadable, but Blake's words are so rhythmic and clear that you can easily read them out loud or silently even when formatted poorly on the page. Some reviewers have complained that there is different text and/or missing poems when compared to other versions. I won't argue with them because, although I have read Blake several times, I am no expert. So if you have to read Songs of Innocence and Experience right now and don't have any money, go ahead and get this book. You will enjoy it. But in the long run it is much better to get a better formatted version - preferably a hardbound volume that will look beautiful on your shelf and provide satisfying poetic readings for years to come.
