Review "Mr. Locke does a great job of not only bringing Raze to life, but also providing character appropriate intonations and accents for each one of the plentiful male cast. . . . Ms. Griffin also delivers a generally well skilled performance." ---AudioGals

I'm not a fan of the tortured heroine but I love the tortured hero. Since Raze sounded like such a passionate, tormented guy, I decided to take a chance on Cole's book. I appreciated Raze the hero, but the book didn't work for me. Here are the reasons why.The over-the-top, ugly sex scenes between Kisa and her abusive fiance. Again and again we see the psychotic fiance rape and humiliate her. He's so violent he even makes her bleed. And this is BEFORE the real "punishment" smex. Kisa endures this abuse because...well, I'm not sure why. Because she feels sorry for the guy? He's totes crazy, she's the only one who calms him down, and so she sticks around. If so, I have trouble sympathizing with a heroine who allows herself to be abused because she pities her abuser. Perhaps she stays because she's afraid of this nut, but that argument doesn't quite make sense to me either. After all, Kisa's father is a BAMF, one of the leaders of the Russian mob. Her father cares for her and has power over the fiance. Kisa acknowledges that her dad would not allow her to be treated this way if he knew what was going on. So why doesn't she go to him for help? I dunno. Her bodyguard knows what the fiance is like, so why doesn't he report to his boss? Again, I can't figure it. It's one thing if she's in an inescapable violent situation, but Kisa seems to have options.Kisa also complains about being expected to be the perfect little woman, etc. but apparently the "little woman" runs an international fight club. For me, the supposed constraints on her life didn't jive with her role as fight club manager.Okay, what about Kisa's connection to Raze? Well, that attraction is pretty much instantaneous. Like, desire immediately starts to "pool" in her panties when she spots him working out at the gym. After enduring all of this painful, violent sex with her crazy fiance, Kisa quickly engages in rough sex with Raze. This encounter happens the third time they're alone together, and their previous two meetings probably totaled about 30 minutes. Given that poor Kisa's been sexually traumatized for years, how the heck is she emotionally or physically ready for this kind of intimacy? Even with her long-lost love. I mean, ow.I usually like dark romantica, but for me, the sexual violence in Raze was gratuitous, given that Kisa had some obvious ways to escape the cycle. Those are my thoughts. Now I shall prepare to be down voted.

If you've read her Hades Hangmen MC books you'll know Tillie can write some of the best captivating and deviant tales around. This is a dark and twisted romance that takes you on a gripping, gritty and unforgiving ride of emotions: revenge, hate, love and hope all play their part.Raze is basically a slave. Taken and held as a young boy for a crime he did not commit. He is tortured and abused daily. He must fight to the death every time he enters the ring of death. If he loses, it will be because he is dead. Imprisoned in 'hell' Raze is determined to not die and vows to seek revenge on the one who has wronged him: he has it engrained on his cell wall, so he never ever forgets who put him there. His tale is one to crush most people's spirit and render them emotionless but not Raze, he's changed but you feel with every ounce of your being he isn't a monster. He's surviving the only way he knows how to: by killing instead if being killed. You will want to seek retribution for Raze too, you will empathise with this killer!!Kisa is New York's Russian Bratva infamous 'Triad' boss' daughter. One picture perfect Mafia princess at first glance. But looks can be deceiving; Kisa is a prisoner too just like Raze. Her confines are due to an over protective father and and even more overbearing, mentally unstable fiancé Alik. Alik is the son to one of the bosses. He is also a psychotic sociopath whose obsessed with Kisa. They have been friends since childhood. She's scared of him but follows her families expectations of being dutiful. However, there is a small, little, tiny part of her that loves Alik. She has known him her whole life and she keeps thinking she can save him. Some scenes between Kisa and Alik are uncomfortable and you truly want to cause him physical pain for how he behaves, but karma does come!!Her life changes one night when she runs into trouble in an alley while working for the church: the only place she can truly be herself without the ever present Mafia and Alik watching and monitoring her. She's rescued by a tattooed, muscled and scarred man. She instantly feels a connection with him and needs to know more about him. Kisa soon discovers he is the replacement fighter at The Dungeon where Alik also fights. Even in that place of death, knowing he's a killer does not repulse her away from him: their drawn to each other inexplicably. This love story is not conventional, traditional or sweet. It's heartbreaking, tough reading and at times very very dark. but I can assure you of an emotional read that will stay with you for days afterwards.... It's a tale of believing in yourself that one day you will get what your heart desires if you fight hard enough.*** reviewed on behalf of Obsessed by Books ***

Tillie's writing is superb, weaving this heartbreaking story like a master. I literally could not put this book down. The darkness and brutality in this story makes your stomach clench and knot up, but the underlying love story between the two main characters, Kisa and Raze, will make your heart clench just as much, but in a good way.The way that Tillie lays this story out truly transports the reader into the here and now of the story. I felt I was living each moment with Kisa and Raze. Every emotion they had I felt deep inside. I ran the gamut of every emotion you can imagine. I cried with Kisa, I felt fear and confusion with Raze, I felt debilitating hatred for several characters/circumstances in the story. I also felt hope, and happiness, and lust and passion. Holy moly, Tillie can write sex!! I was fanning myself something serious on some pretty hot scenes going on between Kisa and Raze! This is not a light hearted read, that is for sure. There were parts of this story that were very hard for me to stomach. But the love story between Kisa and Raze was written so beautifully by Tillie that I would readily read all the ugly again just to get to read the beauty again. These two people were born to be together and how Tillie writes their story and describes their love is absolute perfection."Open your eyes," I whispered, but Raze shook his head, his forehead wrinkling in concentration. My eyebrows furrowed in confusion, a twinge of insecurity rippling through me, until Raze gasped and said, "I'm closing my eyes so I can feel being inside you." He placed his hand over his heart and rasped out, "I've seen too many bad things with these eyes. This, I will feel in my heart." Be still my heart! This is the third book I've read of Tillie's. I loved the first two books and I loved this book just as much. Absolutely recommend this book to everyone. It may be hard for some people to read the darkness and brutality but for me, the love and beauty we get to experience between Kisa and Raze healed the hurt in my heart!
