Natalie's ability to share a 'relatable' story through her poetry is amazing. Each poem tugs at you in a way that connects the reader to an experience that you can relate to; a past relationship, a friendship, sisterhood, growing up in a small town, family reunions, etc. It's all there. Beautifully written, thank you Natalie.

By Michael Lynes "The Heart's Journey Home" by Nancy Ducey is a interesting collection of short poems. I read thru the volume over the course of several days - mostly while relaxing in a very conducive environment.Of all of the types of published works poetry, in my humble opinion, is perhaps the most challenging, both to read as well as to write. This form of literature has to both evoke a feeling and touch the heart while simultaneously conforming to a specific set of rules, scansion and meter.Ms Ducey has set a high bar for herself, and in some cases her verse does reward. I found the 'Old Oak Tree' as well as 'Names in the Sand' very touching and I especially liked the last work in the volume, the eponymous 'Heart's Journey Home'.As a complete work I rated this collection three stars, though several of the poems were excellent and well written. I do feel that this type of rating system is inadequate for this genre so given the subject matter and the difficulty level I would say this is a very good effort and well worth the purchase price.

I generally shy away from poetry, because I so often don't understand its message, but the description of the book and the author's background told me this collection would be different. The collection is primarily reflective of mature (aka long) relationships and the varied ways that love plays out or fizzles out. There are a few poems, like the one to her sister on her 40th birthday, that seemed ill-suited for the theme of the collection. As I began reading the book, I jotted down the titles of the poems that were reminiscent of some stage of my life and relationships...Nobody's Fool, Love's Illusion, Let's Dance, Destined to Fly, Eternal Love, Memories Linger...so you can see there were a lot that I loved. My favorite, though, is the book's title Poem: Heart's Journey Home that left me feeling at home with this book.
