I think some of the directions on how to get to some of the waterfalls is lacking information and sometimes confusing. They should tell you how far away some of these lesser known waterfalls are from a major city such as Duluth. For instance, Two Island River, they say head northeast on Hwy 61. From where??? Mars? They do not even give you a mile marker on the location. Sure they say Taconite Harbor but you better have a very detailed map showing you where Taconite Harbor is! This is the only bad part of the whole book. They really should put more information on locations. It seems like they set it up as if the reader is starting from Duluth and stopping at each waterfall along the route to Canada.

EXACTLY the waterfalls guidebook we needed to know how far we’d walk, how difficult the trail was, how awesome each falls was. We visited interesting falls we would never have found on our own. Our favorite North Shore memories and photos resulted from this guidebook. Next we plan to head for northern Wisconsin and Ontario waterfalls, as the authors suggest! P. S. We’ve given this book as a gift—people love it!

By Linda Marie Although I’m generally not an enthusiastic traveler, the Wallingas’ "Waterfalls of the North Shore" book has not only gotten me to explore the North Shore, but has turned me into a sightseer, hiker, and romantic, just as the subtitle suggests. For a novice like me, the photos and descriptions were enticing and the directions and maps easy to follow.
