'A collection of words, written in verse and in prose, for aspiring poets and active dreamers'

This book tells about the motivational journey of a poet among his walking words, a tale written in prose with many poems and inspirational quotes. ‘Wandering among the stars’ tells about the love story between the protagonist and life too. A story where poetry and prose are intertwined like soul and body, to bring this love story to life so the reader can live it. So it’s not about a collection of poems, least of all a story in verse. Maybe it could be described as a book of ‘narrated poems’ or as a ‘literary musical'; actually it represents a narrative experiment that lies somewhere between a meta-novel, a collection of poems and an essay; its main aim is to encourage those readers that usually prefer to read only prose works to read poetry as well. (Do you want to try?) As a poetry anthology it includes chapters about love, the cosmos, death, spirituality and poetry itself. Italian edition of this book has been a hit and has remained for more than twelve consecutive months among the bestsellers of its category in the Italian Kindle Store. ( http://smarturl.it/stelle ) ‘Wonderful book! Wirton Arvel is the new Gibran' ―Mark J. ‘Poetry is the sound track of our soul; this book tells why' ―Josh Russell ‘It's like a never ending story singing the song of universe to our soul' ―Liz Baum ‘Very inspirational biography, for all 'active dreamers' and life lovers' ―Brandon Dyer ‘This book is like nothing I have ever read before' ―David H. Birley ‘Reading the book, you become a part of something bigger than yourself' ―Uvi Poznansky ‘An interesting sensory experience' ―Dennis Waller ‘Simply beautiful. A treasure for anyone who loves poems' ―Ionia Martin ‘A book for lovers of words' ―Scarlett Jensen ‘ 'Impudent stillness' (one of the poems) is a jewel of combination of words and ideas' ―Jean Pailler ‘This book cannot be summarized – that would tarnish its beauty of wholeness' ―Grady Harp ☛ Grab the free preview ("send sample" button) and give it a try! About the Author Wirton Arvel is above all a poet who tries to encourage the promotion and love of poetry, especially among who only enjoy reading prose works. Besides his work as a writer, he has also edited several bilingual editions with English parallel texts: among them there are some classics of literature such as ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’ by L. Frank Baum, ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’ by Lewis Carroll, ‘A Christmas Carol’ by Charles Dickens, ‘Three Men in a Boat’ by Jerome K. Jerome, ‘The Rime of the Ancient Mariner’ by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, ‘The Adventures of Pinocchio (The Tale of a Puppet)’ by Carlo Collodi, ‘The Little Prince’ by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. He has also edited some anthologies of Italian and English poetry, among which ‘Aedi, Bardi e Poeti – Cantori, Trovatori e Vati (Poetry Anthology: XII-XIV centuries [with Occitan and Italian poems])’, ‘101 poems worth reading in London and New York... 'There is no one, no where, but the shadows of our thoughts, in the lights of the world' By Grady Harp Poet/writer Wirton Arvel likes to keep his biographical succinct: ‘I'm above all a poet who tries to encourage the promotion and love of poetry, especially among who only enjoy reading prose works. Besides my work as a writer, I have also edited several bilingual editions with English parallel texts: among them there are some classics of literature such as "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" by L. Frank Baum, "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" by Lewis Carroll, "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens, "Three men in a boat" by Jerome K. I have also edited some anthologies of Italian and English poetry, among which "Aedi, Bardi e Poeti - Cantori, Trovatori e Vati (Poetry Anthology: XII-XIV centuries [with Occitan and Italian poems])", "101 poems worth reading in London and New York..." (Anthology of English poetry, from Shakespeare to the beginning of the twentieth century). I took part in some international voluntary workcamps in Finland, Turkey, Zimbabwe and more than one time in Brazil (Rio de Janeiro, Manaus, Salvador da Bahia). I have lived and/or worked in Canada, the United States, Ireland, France, Italy, Germany, Poland and New Zealand.’ His interests are writing, dreaming, making people read poetry. As his book opens he leaves a telling blurb: ‘This is the imaginary journey of an aspiring poet and of the words that surround him; little by little they get into his life and lead him among the lines of the poems…Wirton calls this book one of "narrated poems" - a literary experiment where prose and poetry are intermingled like soul and body, in order to create a story that looks like a work of prose, but at the same time arouses the emotions, like poetry. What follows is a magical collection of quotes, brief thoughts, prose and poetry. Some selections follow:Poems are often like photos of a journey: they mean something to the author alone. The following is one of the oldest poems I've ever written and I still keep it.The wind rustled in the leavesthe birds chirped on the branchesthe river babbled among the rocksthe flowers waved in the meadowsfor brief but endless momentsI thoughtI too was a ray of sunlight.~ Life - 10th September 1989The first poem I want to quote here is about a journey to the places where we think mankind originated. It tells about a journey to Africa. To Mother Africa. Where, maybe, the first hominid started making music by following the beating of his heart, then tried to move in time with that music and, eventually, wrote his first verses inspired by the exciting idea of that rhythm which, maybe, permeates the universe around him….. until you feel lighter than the wind and your heart beats in time with the rhythm of the drums, which mark the breath of the night and of your life.Singing voicesrise in the windLike a whirlwind the danceis sweeping with its rhythmA bonfire in the nightand the moonlightThe boundless universeand the joy of being human~ Night in Africa - 19th November 1997 ~The joy of Wirton Arvel’s work is the journey we take with him as we read this book. It cannot be summarized – that would tarnish its beauty of wholeness. The book is an experience – and we all should share it. Grady Harp, June 15

Simply beautiful By Ionia Froment "Unlike Songs whose words depend on the melody of the music, poems must have their own internal music"I love that quote and I love this book. If you are a poet, successful or struggling, or even just someone who appreciates the written word, you will find something to love or to inspire you in this book.Above all else, even above the fantastic arrangement, excellent editing and interesting content--this book comes down to words. I know, I know, they all do, but some poets have a gift for choosing exactly the right word on the right occasion to send a tingling down the spine of the reader. Wirton Arvel is one of those poets. This book is a mixture of free verse and prose, arranged in a way where one connects to the other to tell a story. The author's journey as a writer is laid before us in a most unusual and pleasant way. Rather than using the boring formula of "first I picked up a pen," as other authors have done, Wirton Arvel allows us to journey along through a combination of different themes and watch the progressive trek toward becoming a poet. This is a beautiful book. It is startling, thoughtful and unique and in my opinion would be a treasure for anyone who loves poems. Highly recommended and (I don't say this often) a book that I look forward to reading again.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A Lovely Book By Beverly's Reviews “What is poetry?” Poet Wirton Arvel, the author of WANDERING AMONG THE STARS, asks. Good question and he goes on to explain his thoughts. He also talks about who the poet is and where inspiration can come from. He compares poetry to a song; both must have their own internal music. He alternates his explanations with his poetry. Now, I know very little about poetry, but I do know when something paints a vivid image in my mind. Mr. Arvel’s poems do just that. I can see the leaves fluttering in the wind and the flowers in the meadow. I can hear the birds chirping in the tree and the river flowing over the rocks. The whistle of the train, the coffee bars and so many other scenes come to life in the few words of the poet. It takes a talented writer to bring a poem or scene in a novel to life.Wirton Arvel writes about death. He dedicates a poem to people suffering from Alzheimer’s that touched my heart, for I am familiar with this disease that robs a person of their identity. His poems are about love and God and so much more. If you’d like a book that will lift your spirits and take you along on a beautiful journey, try WANDERING AMONG THE STARS. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.###The author provided me with an ARC of the book for my honest review.

His description of the wreck of the Royal Charter and his appreciation of the work done by the Rev Hughes and his household for the families of the victims is a literary and historical highlight. This work is an informed commentary about people, their strengths and foibles, and events as Dickens observed them mostly in and around the London of his day.

Best PDF Ebook Happiness, by Jack Underwood

Happiness is the long-anticipated debut collection from the award-winning Jack Underwood. With the sort of smart, persuasive voice associated with Simon Armitage and Michael Donaghy, these poems worry at the world in search of consolation, or else meet life's absurdity and strangeness half-way; whether sitting proudly atop an unexploded bomb, or injecting blood under the skin of a banana, playfulness and imagination are vehicles for confronting 'the fearful and forgotten things I've lied to myself about'. Here are poems which address anxiety about fatherhood, remorse for lost lovers and friends, or mourn for a miscarried sibling.

Happiness is a collection preoccupied with the ephemerality of happiness itself, at the ever-present possibility of its departure, and the ways we try to grasp and keep hold of it. 'Every single thought I'm having is about LOVE', here meaning both the pleasure and panic of love, its peculiarity; love as a feeling of risk, love for one's own body, familiar yet estranged, of 'cack-handed LOVE at his console', love like 'pausing to move a snail somewhere safer in the rain'.

Two SO Cliché words I know but that's a good way to describe this poetry collection. Atypical in its approach, Underwood has a knack for maybe leading you on a thought pattern and then sideswiping you with the next line. At times, uncomfortable, it's a collection that makes you feel... and to me, that's of the highest compliments to poetry. Although some highlights do exist, I think it's a matter of mood, mindset and what poetry you like that will ultimately decide how much you enjoy this collection. That said, the talent is there and the emotion is direct
